Hello,I am going to start a blog. I'm not going to try to keyword the hell out of the blog, or squeeze every last dollar out of it; I'm kind of doing this as a hobby. I'm going to actually try to give useful advice and help people. Later on, if it gets successful, then I'll add Adsense and stuff.
This is an ad that I inserted!
If I pick a random domain, create my site, start posting and NOTHING ELSE, will I eventually see organic traffic? Or will my blog never see the light of day?

Did you get a notification in Google Webmaster Tools? If so, what was the content? It will help identify the type of penalty. If you didn't get a notification, then it's an algorithmic demotion, so what have you been doing in terms of SEO?
I can see you have a lot of directory backlinks, which are very poor quality. If you want "directory listings" and have a real business, you're better off using Google+ local listings and other major business directories that people actually use. Don't submit to a directory for the sake of it. Quality, not quantity.
Anyway, I'll won't comment further until you can provide more information, so a more accurate answer can be given.

Super Bowl weekend was a one-two punch. First, there was the announcement of President Obama's proposed policy the New York Times wrote would mean "churches and religious organizations that object to providing birth control coverage on religious grounds would not have to pay for it," notwithstanding the needs of their employees. Next, was a picture of the president skeet shooting at Camp David. (Who knew!)
I couldn't help myself: Super Bowl Sunday I found myself mulling over the state of the union.
And there it was, right there on the TV screen in front of me: A union preoccupied with violence and sex: on the news and in the game. A union beset by trumped-up political and policy battles, ostensibly about preserving life, but really about power and control. A union requiring a peace-loving president to show himself shooting a gun -- in the very week neighborhood innocent Hadiya Pendleton was shot to death blocks from his Chicago home -- in order to demonstrate his bonafides for espousing policy to end the slaughter of innocents. A union requiring a feminist president to advocate for "religious liberty" for institutions that advocate nothing of the kind, in order to demonstrate his bonafides for espousing policy to improve women's health care.
While it professes to love, a union consumed by hate. Hatred of women who want to decide when to bear children and who seek to live autonomous lives. Hatred of those who are different. Hatred of those who disagree. Hatred of those who don't like guns. Hatred of those who call for an end to violence for play.
A union in chaos, in "A (Bowl) of Confusion" this Super Bowl Sunday.
I turned from the New York Times to the Chicago Sun-Times. Its front page proclaimed "Chicago under fire." This headline appeared above a picture of Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, covered by a second headline in do-not-miss-yellow crime-scene tape: "crime scene -- do not cross." The stories and editorial that followed discussed what Emanuel might do to put the (gun) fire out and clear the crime scene. What to do now that his city has become the reigning symbol of this hate-full union? What to do when even Hadiya dies?
Chicago gunfire kills at least a person a day. Each of those days, several babies, mostly unplanned, are born to teen mothers, mostly living in Chicago's neighborhood killing fields. These are neighborhoods infused with hopelessness; with images of this union's culture glorifying guns just for the fun of it; with images of sex with whoever, also just for the fun of it. Hadiya got past all this, but only for a while. What to do when even those who overcome are prey?
Is it really any surprise that Hadiya's neighbors succumbed to the desire to kill? Is it really any surprise that residents of American neighborhoods everywhere do when hopelessness about our future is pervasive; when that hopelessness is confirmed by every day's experience; when the messages we see and hear are so relentlessly and single-mindedly violent and hedonistic? Is it really any surprise when our union's political leaders fight more about (more) access to assault weapons and (less) access to to birth control than about more access to jobs and health care?
Wisely in the circumstance, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards said of the president's proposal regarding access to birth control:
This policy delivers on the promise of women having access to birth control without co-pays no matter where they work... This policy makes it clear that your boss does not get to decide whether you can have birth control.
But, if such a proposal is adopted, access will be circuitous and cumbersome. By contrast, in the run up to Super Bowl weekend, Independent Women's Forum spokeswoman Gayle Trotter proclaimed that mothers need quick and easy access to assault weapons. (Who knew!)
In my senior year of high school, the football team's quarterback was killed one Saturday afternoon when his neck snapped during a game. Football lost whatever attraction it had had. Guns had already lost their attraction when I learned what my World War II infantryman father had suffered. I had learned earlier what happened when a girl classmate got pregnant. She was expelled. Summarily. No word on what happened to the perpetrator. Meanwhile, football continued.
While I succumb to Hollywood sex and guns and the Super Bowl spectacle like most others, I'm not fooled. My life in Chicago has taught me guns beget tragedy not glory, indiscriminate sex begets poor women and poorer children, and violence on whatever field is good for no one.
"It's a mess I tell you," in the words of the old Chicago blues song.
What lesson can we learn to get us out of the mess? Since it's not only Super Bowl month, but also Black History Month, I turned to Sojourner Truth. "It is the mind that makes the body," she said. Time to make up our minds to live in the time of love, not hate. Time to change the ending to Hadiya's sister's story.

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
I saw Django Unchained last night, 9/10 it's hands down my new favourite Tarantino film and oddly it didn't always feel like one of his films.Absolutely amazing performances from all of the cast. Particularly Leonardo DiCaprio - interesting fact: at one point his character slams his fist on the table and accidentally cuts himself on some glass, this wasn't planned in the script and they just kept going. So the rest of the scene DiCaprio has blood all over his hand and actually helped add to the scene (don't want to spoil it for anyone).
Amazing film.

Tips For Writing High Quality Articles Quickly
So I noticed recently that there have been numerous people posting wanting to know how to write articles faster. I think its a really important skill to be able to write high quality articles quickly so I thought I would share some tips that I have learned over the years which may be of use to writers wanting to generate content faster.1. Use voice recognition if you can. For most people voice recognition technology is going to be significantly faster than typing once it has been properly trained. It can be expensive but it will be well worth the investment because not only will you be able to write faster, it will reduce typing fatigue meaning you will be able to work longer hours more comfortably.
2. Set time limits and try to meet them. Content writing quickly is all about setting goals and meeting deadlines. Work out how many words you want to write in a 2 hour period and then work out how many words that is every 10 minutes. Have either a physical timer on your desk or a virtual timer on your desktop and keep track of whether or not your on track to finish on time. A timer will keep you focused and let you know if you need to speed up or not.
This is an ad that I inserted!
3. Have a plan before you write. Its really important that you know what your going to write about before you begin typing. Try and write one sentence per paragraph before you begin writing your article properly. This means you will know where your article is going and you won't lose time working out where to take it next.4. Have a generic template which you base every article off when writing a series of similar articles . For example, a basic template for a 500 word article on tech news may look like this:
1st paragraph: Introduction to the topic, summery of your article - 100 words
2nd paragraph: back ground to the issue - 100 words
3rd paragraph: current developments, new information - 150 words
4th: stake holder analysis, quote - 100 words
5th paragraph: summery, final line looking forward - 50 wordsObviously this is only a loose outline but you get the idea. The purpose of a template is for you to know exactly what your going to write next and not have to stop and think about a new angle.
5. Avoid distractions. This may seem obvious but I feel it needs to be said. Set aside time to write each day and in that time only write. Don't have music on, don't be on Facebook and if possible switch off your phone. Pretend you have a boss and at all times think about whether or not a real boss would approve of your activities while your working because if someone else wouldn't want you doing something while your making money for them, than you shouldn't be doing that same activity while you're making money for yourself.
I hope these tips are of some use to people

$607,169 raised for jobs If there are any champions of workers' rights who are still cheering after the UK's Court of Appeal decision on the Poundland work-for-free case, they need to meet Mechanical Turk.
Mechanical Turk is a fine example of the trend towards a 'precariat': a growing body of insecure workers, so termed by academics because they are always teetering on the edge of survival. It's a trend that threatens to create a Grapes of Wrath generation, snapping at each others' heels like the protagonists of John Steinbeck's Depression-era masterpiece to out-compete their peers for scraps of ad-hoc labor.
This time, though, the Grapes of Wrath economy wears a familiar face, one most of us trust and do business with. Amazon, purveyors of just about everything to just about everyone, also manage a global labor market where anyone with access to a computer and the Internet can offer their services for a wide range of jobs, most paying well below the minimum wage.
Mechanical Turk hasn't had a lot of publicity, but it has excited technology-watchers who like the idea that crowd-sourcing can become crowd-working: Instead of hiring employees or negotiating tiresome freelance contracts, anyone who wants a job done that can be done on a computer can simply go to the market and instantly pick from a host of willing or desperate workers.
Here's the deal. When a job is posted -- transcribing an audio recording, for example -- the recruiter names their price and how quickly they want the work done. This is known as a hit -- a 'human intelligence task.' Doing a job is known, with barely a hint of irony, as taking a hit. Since the work is casual and on-demand, even the best and most recommended workers, known as 'masters', have no security, no employment contracts, no holidays, no sick pay, no payment for equipment -- nothing but the payment of a few dollars or cents into their Amazon account.
If you're new to Mechanical Turk and need the money, you're unlikely to be able to pick and choose. You have to prove yourself to get better jobs, and you only get paid at all if your hirer, or 'requester', is happy with the work you've done. There's no appeal if you think you've been exploited or scammed.
Some of the work on offer is respectable enough, like taking part in surveys for academic research or correcting someone's English. A lot of it is related to making material more visible on the internet by tagging and categorizing it. So Mechanical Turk is big on porn: There's money to be made, though not much, by making adult images, whatever their origin, even easier to find than they are already. Amazon doesn't appear to have a problem with facilitating this.
A lot of the work on offer is mundane -- copying text from business cards features strongly -- but all of it is characterized by rates of pay that are usually well below the U.S. minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. For writing a 'unique 150-word article about self-building your own home', for example, you'll earn 50 cents, so you'd need to clock 15-an-hour to compete with the average shelf-stacker. Effectively, the system allows any hirer to live the free market dream, bypassing all labor regulation and achieving a complete separation between the commissioning of work and the welfare of the worker.
Amazon does well out of this, though it's hard to know exactly how well. It takes a cut on every transaction, naturally. Turk-watcher Panos Ipeirotis, associate professor at New York University's Leonard N. Stern business school, calculates that between $10 million and $150 million of transactions go through Mechanical Turk each year, with Amazon taking between 10 and 20 percent. It's also great for cash flow, as the money paid by hirers sits in workers' Amazon accounts until it's spent, unless the worker has specified direct payment into a bank account.
Amazon tends to be relaxed about checking hirers' credentials. It was not until Lilly Irani, a technology specialist at the University of California, produced a browser plugin called Turkopticon that workers had a reliable way of checking the reputation of hirers. Far from the market regulating itself, it was down to an independent academic and groups of workers sharing their experiences to bring some order to it.
Mechanical Turk is a tiny niche of the global labor market, but it's a niche worth watching as it's being used by some big players, including the U.S. Army Research Lab. And Amazon is well worth watching, as a corporation that aspires to be the world's number one intermediary between buyers and sellers.
Amazon's third-party 'marketplace' sellers already exist under a form of feudalism, where their access to market can be granted or withdrawn at Amazon's directive, their customer lists are not their own and their reputation is mediated through Amazon's own rating system. Mechanical Turk has the potential to enable Amazon to dominate the supply of many services as well as goods.
Of course nobody has to use Mechanical Turk. But as welfare systems around the world become more draconian, some will prefer it to the humiliation of being hounded by officials and stigmatized as shirkers.
One of the marvels of the last couple of years in the UK is that unemployment has stayed relatively low despite the dire performance of the economy. Examine the rapid increase in poverty among those who are working, the lengthening queues at food banks, the fact that geology graduates are being asked to work unpaid in Poundland and the emergence of models like Mechanical Turk, and the real marvel is that people manage to keep going.
