How can my users upload a video to my site - what should I use?

Hi there,

I run a marketplace and I'd like my users to upload a video upon creating a listing which then displays on their listing page to the public.

What's the best way to do this? I tried Uploadify but it doesn't seem to be working for videos larger than 10MB, I need a 50MB limit.

Also, is there a way to allow users to OPTIONALLY upload video using their YouTube video link, for example, they fill in their YouTube video URL which then displays the video on the public listing page?

Thank you so much, I'm at wits end with this!

Texas Teacher Susan Templer's Cancer Fight Inspires Students (VIDEO)

Susan Templer In this March 20, 2013 photo, Susan Templer passes out test forms to her science class in Richardson, Texas. Templer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011, but has continued teacher through her illness to reach her 25 year service mark. (AP Photo/John L. Mone)

RICHARDSON, Texas — Susan Templer wasn't supposed to make it to 2012 or 2013.

But the suburban Dallas middle school science teacher fought back against pancreatic cancer for close to two years and reached a milestone – 25 years on the job.

When doctors diagnosed her with cancer in August 2011, her students and colleagues rushed to support her.

Templer says work kept her going, and she loves nothing more than teaching science.

Richardson North Junior High Principal Philip Bates says Templer is the strongest person he has met.

But even the iron-willed Templer has limits. She's had to stop her school year early_she's in hospital now focusing squarely on her cancer fight.

'HIMYM' Mother Revealed In Season Finale: Who Is The Mother Beneath The Yellow Umbrella? (VIDEO)

"How I Met Your Mother" finally revealed the woman beneath the yellow umbrella in the season finale -- and it's someone you've probably never heard of.

After eight seasons, the mother turned out to be an actress by the name of Cristin Milioti. Milioti has had guest spots on "30 Rock" (she was "sexy baby" Abby Flynn) and "The Sopranos" but is perhaps best known for her Tony-nominated role in the Broadway musical "Once."

Naturally, she was spotted paying for a ticket to Farhampton, which "HIMYM" fans learned in the season premiere would be a pivotal place for Ted and his future bride.

It remains to be seen how the character credited only as "woman with umbrella" will evolve in the show's ninth and final season, but it's interesting that the producers avoided stunt-casting for the role, which will hopefully allow viewers to focus on the character instead of the person playing her.

What did you think of the "How I Met Your Mother" finale? Were you pleased with the mother reveal? Weigh in below and share your predictions for the final season!

Heat Beat Bulls 88-65 In Game 4: LeBron Scores 27 As Miami Takes 3-1 Series Lead (VIDEO)

Heat Bulls Chicago Bulls point guard Marquis Teague (25) watches Miami Heat small forward LeBron James (6) celebrate during the second half in Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, Monday May 13, 2013. (Nuccio DiNuzzo/Chicago Tribune/MCT via Getty Images)

CHICAGO -- LeBron James scored 27 points and the Miami Heat nearly matched a franchise record for points allowed in a playoff game, pounding the listless and short-handed Chicago Bulls 88-65 on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The 65 points allowed were only two more than the all-time postseason low for a Miami opponent, and it was easily the worst offensive performance by a Chicago team.

Never before had the Bulls scored fewer than 69 in a playoff game nor 10 or less in a quarter during the postseason, but both those marks fell on a night when they were dominated on both ends of the floor.

Miami led by 11 at the half and put this one away in the third quarter, outscoring Chicago 17-9 in the period.

Now the Heat will try to wrap up the series at home on Wednesday night, taking what they hope will be the next step toward a second straight championship.

It's hard to believe the Bulls won the series opener the way the past three games have gone.

Miami pounded Chicago in Game 2, coming away with its most lopsided playoff victory while handing the Bulls their worst ever postseason loss, and the Heat continued to roll from there.

James had his usual complete game with eight assists and seven rebounds Monday.

Chris Bosh finished with 14 points after scoring 20 and grabbing 19 rebounds in Game 3, and the Heat won again despite another quiet night from Dwyane Wade, who finished with six points. Norris Cole also struggled with seven points after back-to-back 18-point performances, but the Heat had more than enough in this one.

They shot about 49 percent while the Bulls set a franchise playoff low at 25.7 percent. They were particularly bad from the outside, going 2 for 17 from 3-point range.

The Bulls again were missing ailing Luol Deng and injured Kirk Hinrich (calf), and a team that kept finding ways to win despite being short-handed all season simply appeared to run out of steam.

Carlos Boozer had 14 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double in the postseason but was just 3 of 14 from the field. Jimmy Butler scored 12 and Joakim Noah grabbed nine rebounds, but it was a miserable night for Chicago – particularly Nate Robinson, who missed all 12 shots and did not score.

James scored 15 points and Bosh added 12 in the first half to help the Heat take a 44-33 lead at the break, but that doesn't even come close to telling the complete story.

Consider this.

Miami shot just under 53 percent, with the Bulls at about 27 percent. Chicago was also 1 of 11 on 3-pointers, and the only conversion from long range came from Richard Hamilton.

Remember him?

After playing a grand total of 10 minutes over two playoff appearances, coach Tom Thibodeau turned to him early in the second quarter with Miami threatening to put the game away.

The veteran guard entered to loud cheers with the Bulls trailing 30-17 after back-to-back 3-pointers by Shane Battier and Ray Allen, and the crowd was roaring after Hamilton nailed a wide open 3 from up top and Taj Gibson converted a three-point play.

That made it a seven-point game, but the Bulls couldn't sustain any momentum. The Heat suffocated them on both ends, squeezing a little harder every time Chicago made a push.

There was no energy from the Bulls, none of the resourcefulness that carried them to 45 wins during the regular season and to the second round in the playoffs.

They were trailing 44-31 with about 40 seconds left after James made a neat spin move on the break and got fouled by Nate Robinson for a three-point play.

Notes: The Heat and Bulls were well represented on the NBA's all-defensive first team, with James and Noah being selected. ... Thibodeau had nothing to say about the $35,000 fine from the league for comments he made about the officiating in Game 3. Asked if he was surprised by the amount, he said, "I've got no comment on that. We're just getting ready for Game 4." ... Deng was listed as active after initially being ruled out for Chicago. Hinrich and Rose were inactive.

In keeping with a recent trend, this mother duck took advantage of a short ledge to give her babies a flying lesson.

In this YouTube video, already viewed almost 200,000 times since user Jenny Pan posted it on Friday, the mother waits at the bottom of the ledge while the tiny ducklings pluck up the courage to jump. A crowd even gathers to encourage them.

One by one, the fluffy baby ducks take to the air. You won't know whether to ooh or to aww.

Joanne Spataro: Dr. Jill Stein on Politics, Local Food and Doing Push-Ups in Jail (VIDEO)

Get Politics Alerts: Sign Up

There are not many former presidential candidates that you can kick back with and share a bowl of blueberries. They usually don't have awesome stories about getting arrested with an 85-year-old nun at Fannie Mae while defending two women who were going to lose their homes -- or about doing push-ups in the cold jail cell to stay warm that night.

But 2012 Green Party nominee Dr. Jill Stein, who I recently interviewed, is not like many former presidential candidates.

Although she didn't win the election, she and her vice presidential running mate Cheri Honkala racked in 469,572 votes, making up 0.36 percent of the popular vote per Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections. Their tally surpassed Ralph Nadar's when he ran with the Green Party in 2004 (he garnered 463,655 votes).

Stein is still riding the wave of the 2012 election as she travels around the country to promote the Green Party. The current map of states with the Green Party on the ballot does not include my home state of North Carolina, and Stein wants to change that. The North Carolina Green Party -- which is not a recognized political party -- needs 90,000 signatures to get a Green candidate on the ballot. The petition is currently available on the North Carolina Green Party's website.

"North Carolina is one of the few states where we did not even try because it was absolutely, prohibitively expensive and would require so many volunteers and staff to manage volunteers to try to get on the ballot," Stein told me in Creative Loafing Charlotte. "So it is one way in which the voices of everyday people are locked out from the get-go."

Check out the first installment of my two-part interview with Dr. Stein -- and you might want to grab some blueberries too.

John Mayer At The Hotel Utah: Rocker Gives Surprise San Francisco Show (VIDEO)

Guess who crashed a Songwriters in the Round session at the Hotel Utah last night?

Why, none other than singer-songwriter John Mayer, cowboy hat perfectly perched atop his head, who played an acoustic set for an entire hour. It was essentially a private show, as no more than a few dozen people were on hand.

If you're bummed to miss out, Mayer will be back in the Bay in June to dazzle the Shoreline Amphitheater. And if you can't afford that, take a look at a taste of the intimate Hotel Utah's show below and cry softly to yourself:

Introducing Video Slides

30 Apr 2013 Tech Blog » Internet » Embed » YouTube » Introducing Video Slides With Video Slides, you can quickly create a beautiful slideshow from one or more videos pulled from Youtube and Vimeo. Just past the raw video URLs in any format and the tool will bundle them into a presentation.

couch mode print story

There’s a pretty interesting thread on Hacker News where people have shared links to their favorite technical talks. The thread includes dozens of links pointing to YouTube, Vimeo and other video websites.

It’s a treasure trove and I want to click on every single video that’s mentioned on that page but the problem is that I will then end up having at least two dozen new tabs in the browser. And this isn’t just about Hacker News, you can open any popular thread on sites like Quora or Reddit and you’ll be overwhelmed with links pointing to interesting stuff.

How do you deal with such a large collection of raw links? I have written an app called Video Slides that some may find handy here. The app will scan the text for video URLs and put them all in a single slideshow without cluttering your browser.

Here’s a quick video demo.

Demo Presentation Create Video Slides

The idea is a simple one.

You copy the text of the entire thread and paste it into Video Slides. The app will then extract all the Youtube and Vimeo URLs from your text and will create a slideshow putting one video per slide. You can use the arrow keys to navigate through the slides.

You may paste text from comment threads, HTML source of a web page or even email messages and there’s no need to use any special formats. You can even use the short youtu.be URLs. The app currently extracts Vimeo and YouTube URLs only but going forward, we should be able to use any web service that supports oEmbed.

Internally, Video Slides uses the Embed.ly API to extract the embed code for the video URLs while the presentations are generated through the awesome reveal.js library. Give it a try and your feedback will help shape up the next version.

Canadiens Top Senators 3-1 In Game 2; Series Tied (VIDEO)

(Photo by Francois Laplante/Freestyle Photo/Getty Images)

MONTREAL -- After watching Lars Eller taken off the ice on a stretcher the previous night, the Montreal Canadiens, especially goaltender Carey Price, found some extra motivation against the Ottawa Senators.

Price came through with a 29-save performance as the Canadiens pulled out a hard-hitting but mostly clean 3-1 victory Friday night. The win left their best-of-seven series tied at 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Sunday in Ottawa.

"It's the playoffs. You can't dwell on the last game," said Price, who took heat for two goals between his pads in a 4-2 loss to Ottawa in the series opener. "You've got to get refocused and get ready for the next one."

Fourth-liner Ryan White, rookie Brendan Gallagher and veteran Michael Ryder scored in the middle period and the Canadiens held on. The somewhat flat Senators were let down by a power play that went 0 for 4.

"We saw our teammate, our friend, get hurt," said Gallagher. "You have to understand how emotional that is for us."

Milan Michalek scored for Ottawa.

Missing not only Eller but captain Brian Gionta and big winger Max Pacioretty, both of whom emerged from Game 1 with upper-body injuries, the Canadiens stuck to basics. They outshot Ottawa 34-30 and outhit the Senators 37-26.

There was anticipation of rough play after Eric Gryba's hit that left Eller bleeding profusely on the ice and saw him spend a night in hospital with a concussion. Gryba was suspended for two games by the NHL on Friday.

Passions were further inflamed Friday morning as Montreal coach Michel Therrien criticized Ottawa counterpart Paul MacLean for what he felt were disrespectful comments. MacLean had suggested Eller should have kept his head up and that defenseman Raphael Diaz had left him open to a hit with a "suicide" pass.

But the teams stuck to hockey at night.

"When I read his comments this morning, I was pretty upset," said Therrien.

MacLean just stared into space without answering when asked about the two-game suspension. But he was clear on what caused his team to lose the game.

"They played harder than we did for most of the game," MacLean said. "We turned over pucks that ended up in our net.

"We need a lot of rest and on Sunday, we need to come out and play. We got a split here and now we have home-ice advantage. Now we have to respond to that."

The spotlight was on Price, who was porous down the stretch in the regular season and was thoroughly outplayed in Game 1 by Craig Anderson. He took more criticism for failing to speak to the media after the game.

But he was solid only 24 hours later, and got help from teammates who blocked 34 shots, including five each by Josh Gorges and P.K. Subban.

"The guys were letting me see the puck," said Price. "They did an excellent job of getting to the trash I left out. We're going to need the same type of effort in Game 3."

Subban was not surprised.

"When he wants to shut the door, he shuts it and he locks it," the defenseman said.

The win cost Price the bottom of his two front teeth thanks to a collision in the crease with teammate Jarred Tinordi. He calmly skated to the team bench to hand over the broken choppers.

Curiously, Anderson had lost a tooth from being hit in the mask by Rene Bourque's shot while winning Game 1.

Montreal broke through with two quick goals early in the second period.

White skated hard into the Ottawa zone and intercepted Erik Karlsson's weak backhand pass out of the air at 3:20.

Only 53 seconds later, Alex Galchenyuk took the rebound of Francis Bouillon's shot and slipped it across to Gallagher for the rookie's second goal of the series.

Ottawa had an extra man on for a delayed penalty call when Michalek tipped in Chris Phillips' shot.

A sliding pad save by Price during an Ottawa power play was big, as Montreal killed it off and then scored. Bourque slid the puck through a scramble to Ryder for a shot into an open side.

Notes: Gryba served the first of the two-game suspension and was replaced by Andre Benoit. Tough guy Matt Kassian replaced Cory Conacher and started the game on a rugged line with Chris Neil and Zack Smith. . . . With Eller as well as Pacioretty and Gionta out, Jeff Halpern, Colby Armstrong and Gabriel Dumont were suited up for Montreal.. . The Canadiens were 7-1-1 in the second game of back-to-back contests this season.

Ryan White started a three-goal second period and goalie Carey Price was back in top form with 29 saves and the Montreal Canadiens downed the Ottawa Senators 3-1 to even their playoff series on Friday.

The best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal is tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Sunday in Ottawa.

Brendan Gallagher and Michael Ryder also scored for Montreal. Milan Michalek scored for Ottawa, which was let down by a power play that went 0-for-4.

There was anticipation of rough play after Eric Gryba's hit that saw Montreal's Lars Eller carried off the Bell Centre ice on a stretcher with a concussion and some missing teeth in Ottawa's 4-2 win in the series opener on Thursday night. Eller spent the night in hospital and was released Friday morning.

Gryba served the first of a two-game suspension for his Game 1 hit on Eller and was replaced by Andre Benoit.

Price was criticized for two goals that went between his pads in the opener, but he was sharp throughout Game 2 as Montreal outshot the Senators 34-30 and found ways to get pucks past Craig Anderson, who was coming off a 48-save effort in the opener.

Montreal got two quick goals early in the second period.

White skated hard into the Ottawa zone and was there to bat Erik Karlsson's backhand pass out of the air and between Anderson's pads at 3:20.

Just 53 seconds later, Alex Galchenyuk took the rebound of a Francis Bouillon shot and slipped it across to Gallagher for the rookie's second goal of the series.

Ottawa had an extra man on for a delayed penalty call when Michalek scored at 8:16.

A sliding pad save by Price during an Ottawa power play proved to be big, as Montreal killed it off and then scored as Rene Bourque slid the puck through a scramble to Ryder for a shot into an open side at 18:57.

Price went to the bench after apparently losing a tooth in a collision in front of his net. In Game 1, Anderson lost a tooth when hit in the mask by a Bourque shot.

Notes: Matt Kassian replaced Cory Conacher and started the game on a rugged line with Chris Neil and Zach Smith for Ottawa. ... With Eller as well as Max Pacioretty and Brian Gionta (upper body injuries) out, Jeff Halpern, Colby Armstrong and Gabriel Dumont suited up for Montreal. ... Memphis Grizzlies Beat Clippers 118-105 In Game 6, Advance To Western Conference Semifinals (VIDEO)

Grizzlies Zach Randolph #50 of the Memphis Grizzlies gestures toward the Los Angeles Clippers bench after being ejected from Game Six of the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2013 NBA Playoffs at FedExForum on May 3, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Grizzlies refused to be pushed around, especially on their home court, and now they're headed back to the Western Conference semifinals for the second time in three seasons.

Mike Conley and Zach Randolph scored 23 points each, and the Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Clippers 118-105 on Friday night to take the first-round series 4-2.

The Grizzlies had never won four straight postseason games before this series. They became only the 10th team in NBA history to win four straight after trailing 0-2 – the first to win the next four all by double digits.

They will open the second round at Oklahoma City on Sunday in a rematch of the franchise's only other Western semifinal that the Thunder won in seven games in 2011.

"Now this series is over," Grizzlies center Marc Gasol said. "It's time to enjoy tonight and be ready tomorrow. It's a quick turnaround, so we can enjoy tonight."

Memphis finished with seven players in double figures. Tony Allen had a postseason-best 19 points, and Jerryd Bayless had 16.

Reserve Matt Barnes scored a career playoff-best 30 points for Los Angeles. Chris Paul had 28 points before being ejected with 2:29 left for crashing into Gasol off a missed free throw, though he shook hands with several Grizzlies before going to the locker room.

Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro, whose contract is up after this season, said he didn't understand how Paul could be thrown out of the game. Paul had never been ejected from the playoffs before, and he thanked an unnamed friend for reminding him to watch what he said to reporters.

"I got kids to feed," Paul said.

Blake Griffin didn't start because of his sprained right ankle, and he scored nine points in 13:56. Del Negro said Griffin's ankle was as big as a grapefruit limiting him to a few minutes at a stretch. Paul also is a free agent July 1, leaving plenty of decisions to be made about where the Clippers go from here.

"This is not how we wanted it to end," Griffin said.

NBA Commissioner David Stern was on hand along with Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones. Conley had old Ohio State teammate Greg Oden in the arena as well.

Having the commissioner on hand didn't slow anyone down in a game featuring lots of headlocks and knockdowns with the only thing missing a steel cage as they combined for seven technicals.

Even Grant Hill had three fouls in 3 minutes in the first half, and Chauncey Billups got a flagrant-1.

"They came out threw and everything at us," Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said of the Clippers. "They played small. They played smaller. They pressed. They zoned. They gave hard fouls. They really competed. We held our poise. Held up mentally tough-wise and were able to get the win."

Randolph was ejected, too, with 1:57 remaining. He tossed his headband toward the stands and celebrated as he walked to the locker room.

"I was just talking to the bench and exchanging words and (official) Joey (Crawford) he don't play so he tossed me," Randolph said with a slight smile.

The Clippers set a franchise record going 56-32 in the regular season, earning the No. 4 seed. They won the first two in Los Angeles but came into Game 6 trying to avoid being eliminated by the team they beat in seven in the first round a year ago.

They had hoped to force Game 7 back in Los Angeles on Sunday only to lose four consecutive games for only the third time all season.

"We took too long to come to the fight," Paul said. "We waited to Gam 6 to start to play aggressively and match their intensity. I don't even know how many free throws they shot tonight. Maybe more than the field goal attempts that we got."

It only seemed that way as the Grizzlies went 38 of 47 at the line while the Clippers shot 41 of 78 from the floor. Billups credited the Grizzlies for never letting them get into a rhythm or their Lob City run and gun approach.

"Because of that, we lose the series," Billups said.

Los Angeles led only once – at 45-44 on Barnes' fourth 3-pointer with 5:08 left in the second quarter. The teams had four more ties before Quincy Pondexter hit a 3 with 2:02 left putting the Grizzlies ahead to stay at 54-51.

The Clippers had one last run, a 10-1 spurt capped by Butler's 20-foot jumper with 5:16 left pulling them within 103-97. Conley hit a 3 followed by a 3 from Bayless, and Randolph's scored inside with 3:06 remaining to push the lead back to double digits at 111-99.

It was so physical that Hollins sprinted onto the court in the second quarter after Butler went over Gasol's back for a rebound, leaving the Grizzlies center on the court pushing Butler's leg away as he got up.

Billups had as many fouls (four) as points (four). He got a flagrant-1 in the third when he put his body into Conley trying to stop a fast-break layup attempt and putting his right arm around Conley's neck as they went to the floor.

Conley hit the free throws, then hit a 3-pointer from the left corner giving the Grizzlies a 74-61 lead with 7:11 left.

After the bucket, Randolph and Griffin wrestled themselves to the court in a tangle of bodies. That earned the duo their fourth double-foul in this series with Randolph getting a technical.

Paul picked up his own technical from Crawford for his disgust when Randolph scored and picked up the foul.

Griffin said the tape will speak for what happened on that play but he felt a hand on his neck. Randolph said Griffin was pulling him down so he tried to brace for the fall.

And Griffin was called for a technical in the fourth when he knocked down Allen on a drive to the basket after the Grizzlies guard already had been fouled by Barnes. Bayless hit the free throw for the technical, and Allen added his two pushing the lead back to 97-87.

Notes: Hollins played for one of the nine teams that rallied from a 0-2 deficit. He was with Portland in 1977 when the Trail Blazers rallied to beat Philadelphia for the NBA championship. ... The Clippers did manage to snap a streak by the Grizzlies. Memphis had held opponents to 25 points or fewer in the third quarter in 52 straight games since Jan. 14, a streak 25 games longer than any other in the shot clock era. But the Clippers scored 26 in the third. ... Memphis went 23-1 in the regular season when scoring at least 100 points and is 3-0 in the postseason.

Do you know what I like about wearing a fake mustache? Everything. I love how those cushy black fibers keep my upper lip warm. I love making a feminist statement about how people think it's funny when women wear fake mustaches but chastise them for not shaving their real Frida Kahlo-thick ones.

My most beloved mustache-wearing activity is drag karaoke. Singing as a 1970s man who likes to meet other men in meat trucks on New York City piers is thrilling. It is my homage to the LGBT peeps who Travolta-armed at Studio 54 into the early hours. I can stay up all night dancing in my rainbow boa, spinning and singing until my beleaguered friends tell me to sit down.

Yes, this is not meant to be a full exploration of the cultural and social significance of gay men's lives in the 1970s. I'm telling a story as an unofficial, living-room drag king, like a drag queen might perform as Donna Summer. It's all done with love. Plus, dragging out my mustache inspires me to do more research into LGBT history once I've hung up my boa for the night. The documentary Gay Sex in the '70s is fantastic if you want to learn more about LGBT history during the early gay rights movement between 1969 and 1981. It's one of my favorites.

The number-one rule of doing drag karaoke all night: Avoid looking at your busted self in the mirror the next morning -- especially when the adhesive has peeled off your sweet facial hair.

Check out the morning after my drag karaoke fest in the latest "Look It's Joanne" video.

OppiKoppi Beer Drone To Deliver Booze To South Africa Festival-Goers (VIDEO)

Still bummed that the tacocopter probably isn't making deliveries anytime soon? Haven't quite built your own burrito bomber or found a flying pizza delivery system yet? If you're a big fan of unmanned food delivery systems and planning to be in South Africa from August 8 to 10, then we just may have made your day.

The Oppikoppi music festival plans to have a beer drone on hand to deliver booze to festival-goers. Attendees will be able to order beer from their phones, to be delivered at the District 9 campsite. For now, the "drone" is hand-guided, but will eventually fly on a GPS grid.

A lot of UFO researchers talk about disclosure, but who do we want to make this disclosure, and what are we looking for them to disclose? There are those that believe disclosure has already happened, and depending on your answers to these two questions, you may think so too.

The most common idea people have of disclosure is the President making a special announcement that they have discovered some UFOs are flown by extraterrestrials. This is the sort of disclosure that the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure is seeking this weekend in Washington D.C. at the National Press Club. There will be a panel of former congress members reviewing five days of testimony from witnesses and UFO researchers. The idea is to inspire real congressional hearings that will prompt the President to announce that they knew it all the time.

This sort of disclosure sounds simple. However, a lot of these people feel the government is currently lying about the subject. How would we know what we were being told is now the truth? If proponents of this type of disclosure already believe the government cannot be trusted, why would they trust any announcement?

That is a point that is often made by retired Army Colonel, Dr. John Alexander. He is convinced the UFO phenomena is real and is likely of an extraterrestrial nature. However, he feels government disclosure has already happened. The FBI and the Air Force are two examples of government agencies that currently have thousands of files available on their investigations into UFOs. Alexander says they have released all of their research, but they haven't discovered much and are as baffled as the rest of us.

Much ado has been made of an unofficial group of friends inside intelligence circles Alexander helped to organize that looked into government UFO secrecy. He thought maybe they would find a group of secret keepers. What he found is that the topic is a bit of a hot potato. No one wants to deal with it, because it is too weird and they fear ridicule. He thinks the real lack of serious investigation by the government is due more to incompetence than anything else. However, he does feel official investigation is needed and advocates for organized research into the topic.

Another UFO investigator who often says disclosure has been accomplished is Dr. Steven Greer. Greer has been in the news a lot these past few weeks for his new documentary, Sirius. He was the first to bring credible witnesses to the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to address the media in 2001. It was an impressive group that included retired military officers, an FAA official, and credentialed people in the private sector. They testified to their knowledge or involvement with UFO research or sightings. To many, the credentials of these people were sufficient enough to be a sort of disclosure. In fact, this event prompted me to not only sit up and pay attention, but to get involved with reporting and researching the topic.

Others feel that the secrets are locked up so tight that getting answers is a much more difficult and complicated task. Richard Dolan, a UFO historian, thinks that the answers are probably locked up in deep black projects. Even the President may not have the need to know, giving him plausible deniability, and making it true that the White House doesn't know anything about UFOs because they are not in the loop. If we don't know where the secrets are, how do we, or the President or even congress get to them?

Of course there is also Jaden Smith. He says President Obama has already disclosed to him the truth about ETs. Jaden is the 14 year-old son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. In an interview with Wonderland magazine last week he says he asked Obama about ETs when he got to visit the White House with his family. He told Wonderland:

I talked to President Obama about extraterrestrials. He said he could neither confirm nor deny the existence of aliens, which means they're real. If people think we're the only people that live in this universe, then something is wrong with them.

The point is that there are many ideas about what disclosure really means, and whether it has already happened, or if it is even necessary. Of course, all of this would be moot if extraterrestrials decide to park a spaceship over the White House, and disclose themselves.

France and Britain both started their serious looks after they saw Project Blue Blook closed here in late 1960's if I remember shows correct. So they had continued interest and I think give different views at the end of their looks in reports. The books that I picked up at local libraries after seeing the National Press Club meeting with international pilots, a few ex-USAF personnel and one FAA dept. manager, mcee'd by ex-AZ gov Symmington and narrated by James Fox, which have some statements in them about the touchiness in certain high circles about it are by: Leslie Kean 2010, Thomas Bullard, PhD 2010, Jesse Marcel Jr., MD (son of JM sr. who was first officer to the Roswell crash site). These have short discussions on their knowledge of inner gov stuff and how far you can basically get at finding stuff out in different ways, often second hand accounts from what one would think are credible professionals. Hynek's first book after Project Blue Book retired his consulting, think it was 1973, has some statements about poltics or hurdles he dealt with to do his job of scientific investigation for the project.jamesw597: From what I have seen on the shows/documentaries (which lookshttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/jamesw597/has-ufo-disclosure-alread_b_3156705_248091141.htmlHistory |Permalink |Share itThis comment has been down-ranked into oblivion. "Disclosure" hasn't come about yet. This will happen either by accident, or when something gets released that can't be concealed any longer. At that point, history will have changed. As happened with the discovery of the New Wolrd, there will be a mad scramble for alien contact--to obtain superior technology--to take over, or for profit. Many religious people, or those with preconceived ideas, might be in for a culture shock event., The problem is, we will most likely find there are good aliens and bad aliens. Suppose some despot nation makes contact with the bad ones, agrees to help them enslave us in return for being the top dog? or, obtains a superior weapon. Might sound funny, but when you think about it...rocknhula: Alejandro--I think "Acclimation" has already happened, mainly through the media,http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/rocknhula/has-ufo-disclosure-alread_b_3156705_248038988.htmlHistory |Permalink |Share itThis comment has been down-ranked into oblivion.
