'HIMYM' Mother Revealed In Season Finale: Who Is The Mother Beneath The Yellow Umbrella? (VIDEO)

"How I Met Your Mother" finally revealed the woman beneath the yellow umbrella in the season finale -- and it's someone you've probably never heard of.

After eight seasons, the mother turned out to be an actress by the name of Cristin Milioti. Milioti has had guest spots on "30 Rock" (she was "sexy baby" Abby Flynn) and "The Sopranos" but is perhaps best known for her Tony-nominated role in the Broadway musical "Once."

Naturally, she was spotted paying for a ticket to Farhampton, which "HIMYM" fans learned in the season premiere would be a pivotal place for Ted and his future bride.

It remains to be seen how the character credited only as "woman with umbrella" will evolve in the show's ninth and final season, but it's interesting that the producers avoided stunt-casting for the role, which will hopefully allow viewers to focus on the character instead of the person playing her.

What did you think of the "How I Met Your Mother" finale? Were you pleased with the mother reveal? Weigh in below and share your predictions for the final season!

'Game Of Thrones' Episode 4 Of Season 3: What To Expect From 'And Now His Watch Is Ended' (PHOTOS)

Episode 4 of "Game Of Thrones" is going to be a big one.

The episode, titled "And Now His Watch Is Ended," will see the first truly epic moment of the show's third season. Fans of George R.R. Martin's book franchise, on which the HBO series is based, might know what's coming in, but here's what showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff told reporters during a conference call before the Season 3 premiere.

"We always knew it was going to be one of the big ones," Weiss said (via The Hollywood Reporter). "That was one of the scenes I remember reading it for the first time in the books and being so swept away by it. I remember thinking [that] if we could ever get this to series and we could ever get to season three, we'd actually be able to put that scene on screen."

Here's how HBO describes "And Now His Watch Is Ended," the fourth episode of "Game Of Thrones" Season 3:

The Night’s Watch takes stock. Varys meets his better. Arya is taken to the commander of the Brotherhood. Daenerys exchanges a chain for a whip.

As for Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell, played by Natalie Dormer, the actress recently told TV Guide, "The Tyrells have come and arrived at King's Landing, underestimating the situation. They think that they can control the Lannisters and can take them on. They're going to get a nasty shock." But, she added, Margaery still shouldn't be discounted." Margaery is not safe," Dormer told TV Guide. "She's trying to work out what makes Joffrey tick because if she can work out what makes Joffrey tick, she can control him. And not just control him in a nasty, manipulative way, but control him for the better of the kingdom."

The first five photos from the slideshow below are from "Game Of Thrones" Episode 4 of Season 3. Plus, check out HBO's preview below:

'The Big Bang Theory' Season Finale: Will Leonard And Penny Stay Together?

All's well right now on "The Big Bang Theory" as far as Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) relationship is concerned.

But according to TVLine, the season finale will present Leonard with a huge obstacle: a job offer overseas.

“He's a little nervous, because he doesn't want anything to get screwed up," executive producer Steven Molaro said, adding that although Penny is supportive she would "very much ... miss him.”

The Leonard-Penny drama isn't the only excitement headed "Big Bang's" way, though: TV legend Bob Newhart is swinging by the series on May 2 as Professor Proton, a childhood hero of Leonard and Sheldon's (Jim Parsons).

"I specified 'Big Bang' because of the writing and the live audience," Newhart told TV Guide, noting that the last scene "sets it up for me to return a couple more times next season."

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays, 8 p.m ET on CBS.

2013 Allergy Season Could Be The Worst Ever, Thanks To Climate Change, Some Experts Say

From Marlene Cimons, Climate Nexus:

Marlene Cimons writes for Climate Nexus, a nonprofit that aims to tell the climate story in innovative ways that raise awareness of, dispel misinformation about, and showcase solutions to climate change and energy issues in the United States.  She contributed this article to LiveScience's Expert Voices: Op-Ed & Insights.

This spring could be the most miserable one ever for those of us with allergies, and we can blame it on climate change.

People in the Northeast, in particular, will be among the hardest hit in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and this winter's record-setting blizzard, both of which dumped massive amounts of precipitation over the region.

"[This] promises a robust allergy season,'' said Leonard Bielory, an allergy and immunology specialist with the Rutgers Center for Environmental Prediction in New Jersey, a state which suffered widespread destruction from Sandy.

"The first airborne tree pollen has been measured in recent days, and while the count is still low, some allergy sufferers are showing comparatively severe symptoms,'' he added. "I expect more tree pollen than ever to be released this spring, and the reaction to the early pollen to be unusually strong.''

The planet is getting warmer, and human behavior is responsible. The changing climate has brought early spring, late-ending fall, and large amounts of rain and snow.  All of that, combined with historically high levels of carbon dioxide in the air, nourishes the trees and plants that make pollen, and encourages more fungal growth, such as mold, and the release of spores.

We will be paying a wretched price in the coming months for the behavior fueling the explosion of pollen, which are the tiny reproductive cells found in trees, weeds, plants and grasses.  By all accounts, there will be more pollen this year than ever before.

"The trees are going to burst in the next week or two, and we will get a burst of pollen higher than in past years,'' said Bielory, who predicts that pollen counts will increase by 30 percent by 2020 and, "in a perfect test-tube world, will double by 2040 because of climate change.'' [Study: Pollen Counts To More Than Double By 2040]

Most trees release their pollen in the early spring, while grasses do so in late spring and early summer. Ragweed makes its pollen in the late summer and early fall.

And pollen production is only part of the impact that global warming is going to have on allergies and asthma — and our health overall.

In areas of the country experiencing prolonged heat and drought, dust will worsen air pollution, exacerbating asthma and other respiratory diseases. In other regions, climate change will affect the insect population — their stings and bites can provoke fatal allergic reactions in sensitive individuals — as well as the proliferation of such vines as poison ivy. Poison ivy thrives with increased carbon dioxide, and as a result, now makes a far more potent urushiol — the oil that causes poison-ivy-triggered rashes — than in the past. [8 Ways Global Warming Is Already Changing the World]

Current evidence also suggests that climate change will increase the concentration of ground-level ozone, particularly in Northeastern, Midwestern and Western cities, causing an increase in respiratory diseases.

In short, if you have allergies or asthma, climate change is going to make you a lot sicker now and in the coming years.

Allergic diseases are the sixth leading cause of chronic disease in the United States, with an annual cost of $18 billion, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies annually.

Asthma afflicts about 20 million Americans, and is rising around the world, according to the CDC. Moreover, some public health experts regard the global increase of asthma as an early health effect of climate change, and a harbinger of more health dangers to come.

In fact, one study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology called climate change "potentially the largest global threat to human health ever encountered,'' predicting more injury, disease and death from natural disasters, heat waves, infections and widespread malnutrition, as well as more allergic and air-pollution illnesses and death.

If you are lucky enough to be free from allergies, don't make the mistake of dismissing them as nothing more than a minor annoyance. Allergies can have a serious impact on the quality of life, and in some circumstances — a bee sting, for example, or if they trigger an asthma attack — they can kill.

"This is not just a matter of having a runny nose,'' said Jeffrey Demain, director of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Center of Alaska.  "Allergies affect the ability to go to work and go to school, and they affect school and work performance. They interfere with playing sports, social opportunities, how well you sleep, your relationships and your overall general happiness.''

On average, someone with allergic disorders experiences a quality of life 35 percent less than the general population, Demain said. "It really is quite dramatic,'' he said.

Allergies occur when the body's immune system overreacts to a substance that generally doesn't bother other people. The allergens can prompt sneezing, coughing, watery eyes and itching. In the years between 1970 and 2000, allergic rhinitis among Americans has risen from 10 percent to 30 percent, which correlates to similar increases in positive allergy skin-test results, according to Bielory.

Most experts believe the impact of climate change on allergic diseases will vary by region, depending on latitude, altitude, rainfall and storms, land-use patterns, urbanization, transportation and energy production. Drought, for example, will contribute to increasing air pollution, while heavy rain will wash the pollution away, but encourage the growth of mold.

Bielory and his colleagues, reporting in a 2011 study, showed that the ragweed-pollen season has become longer in northern areas of the country in recent years, and points to climate change as the reason this is happening.

"We drew a line from Texas to Canada,'' he explained. "The pollen count duration remained the same in Texas, but changed as you moved north. Even though you are heading north to Canada, the pollen started earlier and ended later — and it should have been shortening. This was due to earlier springs and the later onset of fall. Frost wasn't occurring as early as it used to, so ragweed was pollinating later.''

Pollen levels per plant are increasing as a result of escalating concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and the plants themselves are growing bigger, experts say.

"The increased pollen is probably a way for the plant to adapt,'' said Demain, who also is an associate clinical professor at the University of Washington. "They become larger and produce much more pollen. More people are going to develop asthma and allergies, and it's going to be severe.''

Stopping human activities that contribute to climate change might help future generations avoid these risks, but the rest of us — like the plants themselves — will have to adapt. We also can hope for a new medical breakthrough that will turn off the allergic response.

In the meantime, stay inside and keep your windows closed.

'Game Of Thrones' Season 3 Premiere: Cast Previews What To Expect From Their Characters This Year

"Game of Thrones" returns for Season 3 on Sunday, March 31 (9 p.m. ET on HBO), and the war-torn land of Westeros will only become more brutal as we delve deeper into George R. R. Martin's meaty tale, confidently adapted by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on an increasingly epic scale.

Ahead of the show's hotly anticipated premiere on Sunday, The Huffington Post spoke with a number of stars from the series to find out what they could reveal about where we find their characters this season both at roundtable interviews and at red carpet events. Read on for a spoiler-lite preview from Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), John Bradley (Samwell Tarley), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister). Sadly, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) missed the press junket due to other work commitments, but her storyline is better shown than told anyway.

North of The Wall
The end of Season 2 saw Jon Snow in the custody of the Wildlings, about to be taken before the legendary Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), known as the King Beyond the Wall. Kit Harington previewed that Season 3 was "interesting" to film because Jon is "essentially a spy and the whole season for him is about where his heart really belongs; whether he’s made a stupid young man’s decision by taking these vows and becoming part of the Night’s Watch and whether he actually would prefer to be a free person and fighting for Mance Rayder. So throughout the season, we discover whether he’s going to be loyal to Night’s Watch or whether he’s going to betray the Night’s Watch and as it goes along, having to convince the Wildlings that he’s one of them, he also convinces himself that he’s one of them."

That internal struggle is further complicated by the tempestuous Ygritte, who shares an undeniable chemistry with the inexperienced young warrior. "I think Jon Snow is such an integral part to her arc this season as well," Rose Leslie said. "I think he breaks down her barriers and you see a softer side to her -- she’s not so brutal and harsh towards him as always."

Jon's closest friend in the Watch, Samwell Tarley, undergoes his own evolution in his travels beyond the Wall. As part of the raiding party that was set upon by the terrifying Wights at the end of the last season, Sam encounters plenty of action while trying to make his way back to the Wall. "I think that for Sam especially, it’s a hugely transformative season in terms of how he’s maturing very rapidly, very dramatically in a very short space of time," John Bradley said. "Certain things happen and certain things have already happened which are planting seeds, which are going to affect his whole outlook on life and his priorities and just give him a reason to be alive for the first time. Certain people need him now; I don’t think he’s ever felt needed before."

The North/The Riverlands
Oblivious to the dangers that lurk beyond the Wall, the war for the Iron Throne is still raging across Westeros and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) is trying to marshal his forces and maintain his dominance in battle after his mother Catelyn Stark freed the Northmen's most valuable captive, Jaime Lannister, in the hope of exchanging him for Catelyn's two daughters, Sansa and Arya, whom she believed were both being held at King's Landing.

"[When we pick up] Catelyn is still estranged from her son, Robb," Michelle Fairley admitted. "She’s still at the camp so she’s become quite introspective, spends a lot of time on her own and reflecting on her life and her actions ... She certainly becomes darker in Season 3."

Between Catelyn's perceived betrayal and Robb's impromptu wedding to Talisa Maegyr (Oona Chaplin) -- which broke an arranged marriage pact between the Starks and the Frey family -- Fairley warned that the rift between mother and son "doesn’t get resolved easily ... I think when you put people in solitary confinement, when you starve them of contact with the ones that they love ... they become desperate ... An olive branch is proffered eventually, but that relationship has changed substantially. The rot has started."

Catelyn can take some small comfort in the fact that their travels take the Stark forces to the Tully family seat at Riverrun, where we meet her brother, Edmure (Tobias Menzies), and uncle, Brynden "The Blackfish" Tully (Clive Russell).

"We meet Catelyn’s uncle, who was her father’s brother, and they have a very nice relationship," Fairley said. "They have a very trusting, honest relationship. He’s very direct and she can speak to him the way she would have spoken to Ned [Sean Bean] I think. The relationship with her brother is different ... He’s not a man like Ned was in that respect. He’s a very different type of male and it’s an issue with Catelyn of working on her respect for him."

Sadly, the other Stark children have equally dangerous paths to tread. Arya -- along with her fellow escapees from Harrenhal, Gendry (Joe Dempsie) and Hot Pie (Ben Hawkey) -- will find the path to Riverrun is longer and more fraught with peril than they anticipated. "Arya just got the coin [from Jaqen H'ghar] ... and now I think maybe she’s got a bit of quiet confidence about getting home," Maisie Williams said. "She doesn’t really want to let herself believe it too much, but she’s slowly starting to feel closer and that maybe she’s worked hard enough maybe something good is going to come of it."

Meanwhile, her brothers Bran and Rickon have escaped Winterfell and Theon Greyjoy's (Alfie Allen) murderous intent, heading towards the Wall to try and reunite with Jon along with Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and Osha (Natalia Tena) for protection. "Bran is now on the road, and his group gets two new characters which are a very interesting new element and really just change the dynamics of the group," Isaac Hempstead-Wright explained. "I think Bran’s story definitely picks up this season because in previous seasons, he hasn’t really had a goal and he hasn’t really been striving towards anything. Now in Season, 3 he knows what he wants and he’s heading towards something."

Those two new characters will certainly be familiar to fans of the books, but for those who are only caught up with the show, he was purposefully vague: "They’re quite crucial in helping Bran to understand the visions he’s been having. And they bring quite an interesting new social dynamic and some of the interactions between each of the characters in the group get ... interesting."

The South/King's Landing
Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) is still being his obnoxious, bloodthirsty self when we rejoin the show, but after the Tyrells saved King's Landing from Stannis Baratheon's (Stephen Dillane) attack in the Battle of Blackwater last season, he's cast Sansa Stark aside in favor of Margaery Tyrell, who, along with her handsome brother Loras (Finn Jones), is more than just a pretty face.

"For Sansa personally, she has a lot of big events this season and I feel like she kind of becomes a woman, not only in her life but also, in the game," Sophie Turner observed. "She’s definitely grown up and she’s an adult, in the sense that she knows how to play the game but also in other events."

Natalie Dormer agreed, "What’s so interesting about a show with a lot of men with swords on horses, fighting battles, the fun thing about King’s Landing -- it’s all about the power-play between the women. So, you put Diana Rigg [Margaery's grandmother, Olenna Tyrell] and Lena Headey and myself and Sophie in the capital and we’ve got our own kind of battlefield happening."

She added, "The Tyrells have come in and they kind of want to adopt Sansa. They want to bring her onto their side, for obvious reasons. So Sansa comes from a close family. The Tyrells are a close family. So, it’s kind of like, 'We’re nice people. Come and be with us ... ' Then it’s up to Sansa. Does she trust us? Does she not trust us? She wants to. She knows she shouldn’t. She’s battling all those things that Sophie says that she’s battling: becoming a woman and becoming an independent spirit. I think Margaery really, genuinely empathizes with her. Margaery genuinely thanks God that she’s not in her position. We were just saying that we think, in other circumstances, these two girls would genuinely be friends. They like each other. It’s just that their friendship is not isolated by that. There are other people involved and bigger themes to deal with, but they’re two young girls that are just trying to be practical."

Standing in the way of their practicality is Cersei Lannister, who has many problems to deal with in Season 3. "Her relationship with Margaery steps up because she becomes very present, which obviously Cersei's very happy about, so that's a real challenge for her," Lena Headey said with a laugh. "And of course, her father (Charles Dance) returns, which is not her favorite thing in the world. So she's kind of faced with these two foes, one of which she deeply wants to impress in everything she does, and she'll never succeed. And Jaime's not around ... "

Naturally, her rivalry with younger brother Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) only intensifies now that their father Tywin is back in King's Landing and positioned as the new King's Hand. "There's a great scene where they both get their comeuppance. And early on in the scene, Cersei's very smug, and then she gets served and it's kinda great," she laughed.

Still, Cersei's main struggle is with Joffrey, who has grown increasingly arrogant the longer he sits on the Iron Throne. "That kills her," Headey admitted. "Her children are her strength and her weakness. That love is terrifying and extraordinary. It's unquestionable. Hers is just a little more ... extreme."

Caught in the midst of the turmoil between families and warring factions, Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister are attempting to return to King's Landing, where Brienne hopes to trade the Kingslayer for Catelyn's daughters. The journey will take its toll on both warriors, but it might also bring some unexpected growth.

"Brienne starts to explore her original ideas about what it is to be a woman, about what strength is -- that strength can be more than just physical strength," Gwendoline Christie said of her character's evolution. "I think that we start to get an insight into Brienne's emotional world that we haven't had before. That galvanizes a big change in her."

"Being forced to spend so much time with one person forces you to get to know this other character, whether you want to or not," Nikolaj Coster-Waldau previewed. "And without giving anything away, they do spend a lot of time together."

As for whether they grow to respect each other on their odyssey, that's a more complicated question. "It's a long season, things change," Coster-Waldau said with a laugh. "At the end of Season 2, there's a scene where she kind of surprises him when she takes out these Stark guards in a very efficient way, but also in a way that surprises him because they are Stark men and he doesn't get it -- why would she put herself in that kind of danger because of a promise? It doesn't make sense to him, but I think he recognizes something that they maybe have in common. She seems unafraid of the consequences. She's not political and tactical. She has a code. But at the same time, if he could, he would just get rid of her as soon as possible. To earn respect takes a little longer."

Christie agreed, "He doesn't show her any respect whatsoever, and there's nothing for her to respect apart from the legend of his brilliant sword skills. So there's nothing tangible for Brienne to admire about him."

"She believes the rumors, she believes all the gossip, she has this preconceived opinion about this guy," Coster-Waldau aded. "He's the Kingslayer; he can't be trusted; he's dishonorable; she's just taken that for the truth. And then ... well, we'll see what happens."

"Game of Thrones" premieres Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

Cardinal Fashion Show: The DOs And DON'Ts Of Vatican Wear This Conclave Season (PHOTOS)

The Good Book teaches us judge not, lest ye be judged. But we're going to break that rule to pick apart the couture of 115 stylin' high-ranking Catholic officials who've arrived in Rome to pick the next pope.

The 115 Roman Catholic cardinals filed into the Vatican Monday morning, readying themselves to judge the papabili -- possible pontiffs -- at the conclave opening tomorrow. We know they answer to a higher authority, but that didn't stop HuffPost Weird News from filing into our New York offices to judge who's hot and who's not when it comes to holy attire.

Who's cassock had the best hem? Who wore the holiest hue of red? And who committed the Cardinal Sin of fashion?

Loading Slideshow...

Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer, right, and compatriot Cardinal Geraldo Majella Agnelo wore matching outfits. They're practically inseparable. That's not a faux pas in itself -- too bad they copied all the wrong fashions. Leave Alexander VIII's fashion sense back in 1691, you guys.

That's the perfect sock for your cassock, Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai. Comfortable and easy on the eyes yet it makes a bold statement at the same time.

As you can see, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi is wearing the Jesus line of bling...

... And he knows he's lookin' fly.

We didn't come all the way to the Vatican to fade away into obscurity. Rock that man-frock or bust, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn.

Ain't nothin' wrong with overindulging on the Blood of Christ before the pre-conclave party, Cardinal Marc Ouellet. Especially if you lookin' good.

Cardinal Donald Wuerl chose an interesting take on the classic cassock color scheme: black with a splash of red. Not too much, not too little. All class.

Umm, guys... Let's remember to coordinate next time, you're all wearing the same thing. How embarrassing! Cardinal Sin, indeed.

Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz's new beanie is a power move, and is that an Alexander McQueen sash? We can't tell.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh how we love you, Cardinal Reinhard Marx. You wouldn't know the difference between a Balenciaga bag and a Gap purse, but we love you all the same. Just look at those dance moves!

Ugh, the same cassock AGAIN, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi? But seriously, the dude in the back has swag. Yellow, blue and red pinstripes? Take note, Cardinal. Take note.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle knows how to be subtle with his cuts, but his colors? He'll be standing out among the more conservative Cardinals.

We're usually stunned by Cardinal Marc Ouellet's getups. But this? We're not even sure he ironed whatever THIS is.

Never to be outdone, Cardinals Angelo Scola, left, and Ennio Antonelli have always been fashion forward at shows. The shading in Antonelli's tunic, the perfection in Scola's briefcase accessorizing... It's almost perfect.

You can't come to a fashion show, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, and not expect to have some pictures taken. He was so reclusive this year.

The cape Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer chose clashes a little too much with his sash. And what have you done with your collar? Loosen 'er up, the Pope isn't here yet.

'Mad Men Recap': Matt Weiner, Jon Hamm Set Stage For Season 6

A new season of "Mad Men" is almost here and viewers didn't have to wait more than a year to see it.

In HuffPost TV's exclusive "Mad Men" recap below, series creator Matt Weiner and the show's stars dissect the final moments of Season 5 and hint at what's to come with "Mad Men" Season 6.

Season 5 saw the shocking death of Lane Pryce and the firm dealing with the fallout, including guilt associated with his suicide.

"The company has really never been in better shape, so it was kind of a weird juxtaposition of the company rising and still being in this very emotionally difficult place," Jon Hamm says in the video below.

Hamm's Don Draper was also struggling with Megan's (Jessica Pare) new independence. Meanwhile, Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) struck out on her own, Pete lived the life of Don and the company was on the up and up.

"Mad Men" Season 6 premieres Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.

Gearing Up For Conference Season

It is that time of year again and the final touches are playing out for my upcoming conference appearances. The following list is for confirmed conferences but there are a few more floating around that I’ll add to the list once things are finalized.

Conductors-Guild-Conference-2013I’ll be serving in an official capacity as a Conference mentor as well as working with those interested in setting up member profiles at the Guild’s recently redesigned website. The member profiles are one way the Guild is using its online presence to enhance the value of membership and inspire mission driven activity (sample #1, sample #2). I’ll be working directly with members to help set up their profile and answer their questions about PR and promotion in the highly competitive field of conducting.

Registration Info: http://www.conductorsguild.org/conference/registration-info/

OCSM logoI’m honored to be OCSM’s keynote speaker where I’ll be discussing Fourth Generation theory and how it applies to the North American orchestra field as well as the conference theme of Looking To The Future.” In addition to the keynote address, I’ll be participating on several additional panels over the course of the conference, all of which will focus in one way or another on the conference’s key areas of focus:

pro-active solutions to problems facing Canadian professional orchestras;to the future of symphonic recording and our media presence;issues of human rights in a changing workplace;the creation of a new generation of orchestral leaders and advocates.

nampI’ll be serving as a speaker for Ceci Dadisman’s panel Winning Websites – Engagement-Driven Solutions. any chance to work with Ceci is a genuine treat and I’m looking forward to working with fellow panel speaker Guillaume Therien, Director, Sales & Marketing at Opéra de Montréal. The date, time, and final panelist are TBD and the current panel description is as follows:

Your website is not only the first impression you give to prospective patrons but also an important part of any marketing initiative. How do you create an engaging experience that not only educates and inspires but also maximizes conversions? We’ll look at recent website redesigns that have had positive results as well as data on best practices. Learn tools and tactics that you can use on your organization’s websites that will make it more successful and engaging.

NAMP 2013 registration opens June 26. http://www.artsmarketing.org/conference

If I’m not appearing at a conference you’re attending, you should contact them ask why; you never know, it may not be too late.

"I hear that every time you show up to work with an orchestra, people get fired." Those were the first words out of an executive's mouth after her board chair introduced us. That executive is now a dear colleague and friend but the day that consulting contract began with her orchestra, she was convinced I was a hatchet-man brought in by the board to clean house. I understand where the trepidation comes from as a great deal of my consulting and technology provider work for arts organizations involves due diligence, separating fact from fiction, interpreting spin, as well as performance review and oversight. So yes, sometimes that work results in one or two individuals "aggressively embracing career change" but far more often than not, it reinforces and clarifies exactly what works and why. In short, it doesn't matter if you know where all the bodies are buried if you can't keep your own clients out of the ground, and I'm fortunate enough to say that for more than 15 years, I've done exactly that for groups of all budget size from Qatar to Kathmandu. For fun, I write a daily blog about the orchestra business, provide a platform for arts insiders to speak their mind, keep track of what people in this business get paid, help write a satirical cartoon about orchestra life, and love a good coffee drink.

'Arrow' Renewed: 'The Vampire Diaries,' 'Supernatural' Also Returning For 2013-2014 Season

"Arrow" has been renewed for Season 2. In addition to the The CW's breakout hit, the network also announced early pickups for "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural."

"We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit 'Arrow' and fan favorite 'Supernatural' on Wednesday night, and the continued success of 'The Vampire Diaries' on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that," Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, said in a statement. "Not only do 'Arrow', 'Supernatural,' and 'The Vampire Diaries' perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”

Based on the DC Comics character "Green Arrow," The CW's "Arrow" has been one of the few hits of the 2012-2013 TV season. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, a rich playboy by day and mysterious vigilante by night, the series premiere currently holds the title of The CW's most-watched show with 4.3 million viewers.

"The Vampire Diaries" -- which is currently following the Mystic Falls crew on a hunt for a cure for vampirism -- has had strong ratings in the key demographics of adults 18-34 and women 18-34 in its current fourth season.

"Supernatural" will return for an impressive Season 9 after seeing an increase in the ratings department thanks to its pairing with "Arrow" and its move from Fridays to Wednesdays. Since last season, "Supernatural" has risen 15 percent in total viewers.

"It's a great pat on the back that they moved us out of Friday ... A lot of times, it can be considered the night that shows go to die. So not only did we not die, we survived and we grew and I think that that's a big testament to the fans and how supportive they are and how loud they can be about our show," "Supernatural" star Jensen Ackles told The Huffington Post last year when the schedule change was announced.

In their current seasons, "Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW, "The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST and "Supernatural" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.

Catherine learns that Vincent is actually still alive and that it was he who saved her many years before. Catherine agrees to protect his identity in return for any insight he may have into her mother's murder. Thus begins a complex relationship between Catherine and Vincent, who are powerfully drawn to each other yet understand that their connection is extremely dangerous for both of them.

At long last, Emily Owens feels like she is an actual grown-up. She can finally put her high school days as the geeky-girl-with-flop-sweats behind her; she's graduated from medical school and is now a first-year intern at Denver Memorial Hospital, where she'll have the chance to work with world-famous cardiologist Dr. Gina Beckett - and where, not-so-coincidentally, her med-school crush Will Rider is also an intern. So why does everyone keep warning her that the hospital is just like high school? Emily soon finds out the hard way - her high school nemesis, the gorgeous, popular Cassandra Kopelson, is also just starting out at Denver Memorial, and it seems like they're rivals all over again - not only as surgical interns, but for Will's attention. Fellow intern Tyra Granger warns Emily that the cliques at Denver Memorial are all too familiar: the jocks have become orthopedic surgeons; the mean girls are in plastics; the rebels are in the ER, and Tyra has her own awkward place as the principal's kid - her father is the chief resident. Emily's the new kid all over again, and it's just as awkward as high school. Only this time around, Emily will have to balance the personal and emotional turmoil of social politics with the high-stakes world of life-and-death medical decisions. At least she has fellow intern Tyra and nerdy-but-cute resident Micah, to count on as friends. Emily is growing to realize that although she may be a geek, she may also grow to be a great doctor, flop sweats and all.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on - and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

In the cold-weather months when daylight wanes and snowflakes and blustery weather keep you indoors, you should not sacrifice your health and well-being just because you feel the familiar tug of hibernation. While hibernation is an essential part of some animals' survival strategy, you can stave off the feelings of the winter blues and keep your spirits high by taking care of your body with a few simple wellness tips.

1) Sleep Longer -- Honor your circadian rhythm, which responds to your environment's light and darkness. In the wintertime when the sun sets around 6 p.m., use this as a reminder to wind down. Leave your work at the office, keep the lights in your home dim and give into those feelings of sleepiness. Creating a sanctuary of calm in your bedroom with cozy blankets and your favorite pillow will have you dreaming in no time.

2) Sip Tea -- Chamomile, Earl Grey, oolong, the list goes on, as do the benefits. Want to stay warm and prevent the flu this season? Stock up on green tea. Improve your antioxidants and reduce your risk of coronary heart disease by drinking three cups of black tea a day. In the UK, the Tea Advisory Panel commissioned a study that concluded that tea is just as hydrating as water. So no matter your favorite flavor, put the kettle on and warm your hand around a mug.

3) Add Spice -- If tucking into comfort food is the first thing you like to do at the hint of cold weather, considering adding some spices to your recipes. Cilantro is an important spice in the ayurvedic diet, and is used as a medicinal herb to aid digestion. Dr. Michael Murray, a natural medicine doctor and author of The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods, suggests trying nutmeg, which may encourage sleep by mirroring the effect of serotonin. Combat your irritable mood or low-level depression by sprinkling turmeric in your dish for a quick pick-me-up.

4) Take a Steam -- If the idea of heading to the beach makes you feel instantly relaxed but you just can't get away, head into a sauna or steam room this winter instead. While sweating it out in a heated room has not shown any medical benefits to the body, the de-stressing and relaxation effects may be just what your body ordered.

5) Curl Up With a Book -- Have you been meaning to catch up on the classics, or did you buy a beach read that sat in your bag on the sand? Substitute a night of TV watching to focus instead on sharpening your memory and concentration with a literary romp. You might be surprised to learn that cracking open that hardcover may even make you smarter by expanding your vocabulary and cultural sensitivity.
