What Does Everyone Think Of The New Digital Point Forum?

Yeah, I'm curious to see the overall feedback and long-term success with the new platform. While I don't "love" losing my itrader history which I had built over half a decade, I do think more limitations to the Marketplace for more verified members or those who wish to take the time to become an active member, is better. It helps the overall SPAM of the forum and keeps the quality level up.

One other aspect I noted but wasn't sure was accurate, was the flag assigned to my name? Is that only in the profile so far? But I do like that, proves my location and have had issues in the past where I hired someone who was from "New York" but turned out to be from overseas.

I'm also curious to see how the trophy points system works out and whether or not it is sufficient for showing the establishment and longevity of a user on a forum. Overall, the new design is pretty smooth and I'll definitely agree with a few others that the old template was getting to be exactly that: old. Excited to see how DP can continue to evolve to better serve it's member's!

Avalanche End Blackhawks' Point Streak: Colorado Beats Chicago 6-2

DENVER — The best start in NHL history is over. The Chicago Blackhawks finally left the ice without a point.

The Blackhawks were stunned 6-2 by the struggling Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. It was their first loss in regulation and ended a remarkable run in which they earned at least one point in their first 24 games, an NHL record.

Matt Duchene scored four points and Ryan O'Reilly got his first goal since his contract dispute was resolved more than a week ago. O'Reilly assisted on another goal in a four-goal onslaught in the second period that turned a 1-1 tie into a laugher.

The Blackhawks (21-1-3) hadn't lost in regulation since a 6-1 rout by Nashville on March 25, 2012, and their last loss in regulation on the road came more than a year ago, with a 5-1 defeat at St. Louis on March 6, 2012.

Dating back to last year's regular season, the streak was 30 games.

Chicago's overall points streak was the second longest in NHL history. The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers set the league record with a staggering 35-game unbeaten streak that included 25 wins and 10 ties – all in the same season.

Duchene, John Mitchell and Jamie McGinn also put pucks past Corey Crawford in the second period for the Avalanche, who had lost six of their previous seven, including a 3-2 heartbreaker at Chicago 48 hours earlier.

Crawford (11-1-3) allowed five goals on 19 shots before being replaced in net by Ray Emery to start the third period.

Semyon Varlamov had 30 saves for Colorado.

The Avalanche nearly ended the spectacular streak in Chicago on Wednesday night before the Blackhawks pulled out the win when Daniel Carcillo scored the tiebreaking goal with 49.3 seconds left. Chicago was skating without three key forwards and playing its second game in two nights then.

There was no such comeback Friday night at the Pepsi Center, where a good portion of the sellout crowd was rooting for the Blackhawks, who hadn't allowed more than four goals in a game this season.

The crowd chanted, "End of streak! End of streak!" over the final minutes.

Bryan Bickell's goal with 11:07 left made it 5-2. He nearly scored again from the same spot 90 seconds later, but Varlamov smothered the shot.

The teams got into a scuffle with 5:04 left after Bickell squared off with Gabriel Landeskog, who had checked Duncan Keith in the back.

P.A. Parenteau's 10th goal of the season made it 6-2.

Chicago's Jonathan Toews got the scoring started when he knocked the puck past Varlamov after a turnover on a give-and-go with forward Marian Hossa, who returned from an upper-body injury.

Colorado (9-10-4) tied it when Paul Stastny, who was between the circles, tipped a pass from Duchene into the net. It was a rare power play goal for the Avalanche, who came into the game ranked 29th in the league with just 82 shots when skating with a man advantage.

Duchene's goal between Crawford's legs made it 2-1. Just 33 seconds later, Mitchell scored on an assist from O'Reilly, who was signed to a two-year $10 million deal last week after the Avalanche matched Calgary's offer sheet following a nasty contract dispute.

O'Reilly's goal came on a slap shot from the top of the right circle 4 seconds into another power play. Duchene set him up with a pass after Stastny won the faceoff.

Duchene got his third assist when he dug out a loose puck from the boards in a scramble with Keith and kicked it out to McGinn, who put made it 5-1.

The Blackhawks' run comes with somewhat of an asterisk because they actually lost three games along the way – all in shootouts. Under NHL rules, that's still worth a point, but that makes it different from what the Flyers accomplished nearly a quarter-century ago.

During that streak, Philadelphia won 25 games and tied 10. There was no overtime until the playoffs, and the shootout was still a far-off creation. If the teams were tied after 60 minutes, that's how it ended. Each got a point.

Nowadays, both teams still receive a point if the game is tied at the end of regulation. Then, the team that scores in a five-minute, four-skaters-a-side overtime period or wins the shootout gets an extra point.

NOTES: Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson returned to the lineup after missing 11 games with a head injury. ... Chicago RW Michael Frolik returned from an illness that sidelined him for two games. ... The Blackhawks were without forward Patrick Sharp, who left Wednesday's home win over the Avalanche with a shoulder injury after being checked along the boards by Colorado's Ryan O'Byrne. ... The Avalanche matched their season high for goals.

Indian Point Fish Study Reveals Nuclear Plant's Effect On Endangered Fish Species

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — The federal fisheries service says the continued operation of two nuclear plants in the New York City suburbs would have an "adverse effect" on two endangered species of sturgeon, but would not come close to wiping them out.

The conclusion appears to help the argument for extending licenses for the Indian Point plants on the Hudson River, although one critic called it wrong and irrelevant.

The National Marine Fisheries Service prepared the document at the request of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which is conducting hearings on whether Indian Point's owner, Entergy Nuclear, should get 20-year license extensions.

The 168-page opinion, made public Tuesday by the NRC, says nearly 1,000 shortnose sturgeon and Atlantic sturgeon would be killed during the extended lives of the plants, but that would be only a small percentage of the stock.

The deaths, usually caused when fish are caught against water intake screens, are "not likely to jeopardize the continued existence" of either species, the study concludes.

It also found no threat from the warmer water that is discharged back into the river or from any radioactive elements escaping from the plants into the Hudson.

In a cover letter, NMFS regional administrator John Bullard cautioned that the study applies only to the way the Indian Point reactors currently operate, using the screens to block fish from being drawn into the plant with the millions of gallons of river water used for cooling.

New York state is currently insisting that Indian Point switch to closed-cycle cooling, which uses much less water and is safer for fish. For that reason, the study is "a waste of time and resources," said Phillip Musegaas of the environmental group Riverkeeper.

Musegaas believes Indian Point will have to either shut down or switch to closed-cycle cooling, which Entergy is challenging. But even on its face, he says, the report is flawed because there's been no sampling data on sturgeon since the 1990s.

"We believe the science shows Indian Point has a serious impact, especially on Atlantic sturgeon," he said.

A spokeswoman for the regional office of the state Department of Environmental Conservation did not immediately return a call for comment.

A call to New Orleans-based Entergy was not immediately returned.

The study refers to a 1998 estimate of 57,000 adult shortnose sturgeon in the Hudson. It predicts the population "will continue to be stable at high numbers" for the 20-year license extension period.

The numbers of Atlantic sturgeon are believed to be much smaller, and it was recently listed as an endangered species. The study mentions a 2007 estimate of 863 adults in the Hudson, but says most fish killed at Indian Point would be juveniles, and only "a very small percentage" of them.

NRC spokesman Neil Sheehan said the document will be considered as the NRC works on a revised environmental impact statement for the license renewals. The impact statement is due by April 30.

Another revised statement, on safety at the plant, is due July 31, and the NRC has asked that hearings on the new licenses be delayed until after then.

The licenses for Indian Point 2 and 3 expire this year and in 2015, respectively, but the plants are permitted to keep running until a license decision is made — and through any appeals.

Last week I've watched with great interest the commercials launched by Coca-Cola, which were created to engage in the discussion on obesity and provide a perspective on the role that sugar and sodas play in this health dilemma. As a mother of two boys , a former ad executive and now founder of a company in the kids' beverage industry, I believe that Coke, as well as its numerous critics, are missing the point.

First of all, I would like to applaud the work of leaders such as the First Lady Michelle Obama and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, whose efforts have been key in getting the world's largest beverage company to do something unprecedented and actually engage in the subject of obesity in a serious way. I also applaud Coke for raising attention to this issue in a thoughtful way by pointing out the range of products they offer and community work they have done, and continue to do, to help curb obesity. With that said, I think that Coke and the critics of their new campaign are missing the point altogether and missing a great opportunity.

I believe that the success of Coke, and let's not forget Pepsi, over many generations has not been due to product innovation, community-oriented efforts, social engagement or anything of that nature. With over half of Americans drinking at least one soda daily, a shocking average of 45 gallons of soda per year, their success has been attributed to their mastery of marketing, or as my kids would say, "making sodas really cool!" In my opinion, between the two commercials the one that works best in terms of engagement for Coke is not 'Coming Together' -- the two minute corporate responsibility film which unfortunately comes across as defensive, very late and transparent in its agenda -- it is the 'Be OK' ad. Why? Because 'Be OK' is a classic Coke ad. As my son Jack elaborated, "Coke ads are fun, cool and make you feel happy." They relate to the audience in an emotional and emphatic way. That is exactly why kids love to drink Coke.

Yes, kids love sodas and sugary drinks. About 56 percent of 8-year-olds and 78 percent of 9-14 year-olds consume soda daily. Even more shocking, one in three teens consume at least three cans of soda per day. That is too much soda. These beverages contain empty calories, which have no nutritional value, and are certainly not what Coke is telling its consumers -- 'happy.' Over consumption of these drinks can lead to serious health issues, including obesity. These hard facts along with learning that, due to obesity, today's generation of kids are expected to live shorter than their parents, pushed me to become involved in the kids' beverage industry. Over the last five years, I have had the privilege of learning from kids about how to engage their generation and create excitement for the healthiest thirst quencher of all -- water.

Being a mom and also having worked with and been inspired by kids, I believe part of the solution to the obesity problem, particularly childhood obesity, is not to confuse and reposition the facts (empty is not happy) and it's not to make low or no calorie versions of products such as Coke Zero or Vitamin Water Zero. Kids don't like to be confused, they are smart and can tell if a brand is trying too hard or deceiving them in some way. They also perceive these attempts at a healthier product as 'less than the real thing.' If you know kids, you know they hate nothing more than being shorted or 'gipped.' I believe from the kids' perspective, the answer is very simple. Create healthy, contemporary brands that do what Coke and Pepsi have done so successfully for years; build a desire, create a strong emotional appeal and most of all be 'cool' in the eyes of kids. This is exactly how Coke is portrayed in their anti-obesity 'Be OK' spot and why, in my eyes, it is effective.

Unfortunately, most of the so-called 'healthy' brands out there are either compromises (less than the real thing) or are marketed around adult values like purity of source, good for you, organic, natural ingredients and eco-responsibility. The industry doesn't get it. Not many kids crave Coke or sip it from that iconic bottle because it is 'sugar and fizzy water,' they love or loved Coke because of its marketing -- 'Teach the World to Sing,' the Polar Bears, and more recently 'Open Happiness.' Similarly, young people grab Pepsi not for what is inside but for what it stands for, the 'new generation.' Michael Jackson and Britney Spears have danced alongside Pepsi and now, the face of the most beautiful women in the world as dubbed by People magazine, Beyonce, will be on its can.

I believe that marketing and its emotional appeal is the key and that is the point that Coke missed in their new campaign. It is also what the critics are missing in their commentaries. Instead of slamming the ads and claiming they are deceitful, defensive, disingenuous and so on, they should recommend that Coke use their significant corporate power and truly face the problem head on. Coke needs to seriously invest in putting out healthy products instead of the 'less then the real thing' options and begin standing behind brands that are genuinely healthy. They should do what they are so good at -- make wonderful commercials for those brands and show that they are as cool, fun and happy as the classic Coca-Cola. With their distribution arm (that's another subject) and deep media budgets, those brands will surely be a success and will begin paving the way to improve the health of this country -- most importantly the kids.

Let's face it, if anyone can make a difference in this obesity epidemic it the largest beverage company in the world.

And yes, my kids are allowed an occasional drink of Coca-Cola!
