Reporter Covers China Earthquake While Wearing Wedding Dress (VIDEO)

One reporter in China went above and beyond the call of duty when she abandoned her own wedding to report on the massive earthquake that struck the city of Ya'an in southwest China Saturday.

Appearing on-air in her wedding gown, complete with the veil, the TV reporter covered the breaking news and interviewed residents affected by the quake that killed at least 156 people.

SCROLL FOR PHOTO

According to The South China Morning Post, a photo of the working bride, identified as Chen Ying, went viral on Sina Weibo -- a Chinese microblogging site similar to Twitter -- as many netizens praised the reporter for her "professional spirit" during the tragic event.

As Shanghaiist notes, Chen was apparently en route to the ceremony when the earthquake struck Saturday morning (no word on whether she rescheduled the ceremony).

The coverage -- striking for its juxtaposition of a reporter wearing a wedding dress in the midst of disaster -- is the latest example of an off-duty professional jumping into action. Earlier this week, several reporters who ran the Boston Marathon, quickly shifted into reporter mode in order to provide firsthand coverage of the bombing.

Wedding Scam: 53 Couples Lose Thousands Of Dollars In Wedding Con (VIDEO)

A dream Las Vegas wedding has turned into a nightmare for 53 devastated couples across the country.

Las Vegas wedding venue Griffin Mansions was shut down due to health code violations in May 2012, but the owners of the lavish estate continued booking weddings for dates through 2014 anyway, The Today Show reported Tuesday. Now, 53 couples are coming out with their stories, saying the owners have refused to refund them for weddings they knew would never happen.

Griffin Mansions, run by husband and wife Anthony Lopez and Portia Latawiec, was shut down after officials discovered that the business had been operating without the correct permits for years, and a guest at one wedding got sick from norovirus. But as Las Vegas news station News 3 revealed in a hidden camera investigation in July 2012, Latawiec and Lopez continued to schedule weddings and told customers they had the proper licenses, even though they had been shut down and would not be able to hold any more weddings.

One bride, Wendy Rowland, told News 3 that her August 2012 wedding was cancelled after she'd paid the mansion $16,600 for use of the space. The venue's owners refused to refund her money.

"I have been crying for three days, not sleeping," Rowland said. "It's bad memories, and you're supposed to have amazing memories of this day."

Watch the video above for more on the Griffin Mansions scam.

Though disaster struck for these couples before their Big Days, sometimes the wedding day itself goes less-than-smoothly. For this couple, everything from the venue to the flowers to the groom's tuxedo went wrong. And at one California wedding, police were called when more than 100 drunken guests started a violent fight.

Wedding Photobomb: Couple Gets Photobombed By Cuddly Sloth (PHOTO)

Thanks to one prank-loving daughter, a newlywed couple's wedding photo includes an unusual four-legged friend.

Marissa Pore, a high school junior from Texas, posted a photo to Reddit Monday that she took of her mom and stepfather at their wedding on Saturday. But this is no ordinary wedding shot. Take a look at the photo below and you'll see what we mean:

Pore told HuffPost Weddings that as she was editing her mom's wedding photos, she decided to have a little bit of fun by sneaking a sloth up in a tree in one of the photos. No one noticed, so the photo was hung in the hallway of their house. Pore then decided to post the photo on Reddit, where it has generated more than 700 comments so far. She said the bride and groom didn't mind at all when they finally discovered the sloth hanging out in their photo.

"[My mom] laughed hysterically and thought it was funny! She likes being 'famous' on the Internet. Everyone on her Facebook is asking her about it, same with my step-dad. And of course, she's leaving it in our hallway!" Pore said.

Wedding Trends 2012: Industry Insiders Choose The Year's Top Trends (PHOTOS)

What a year it's been for wedding enthusiasts.

From Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake's romantic Italian nuptials to the legalization of same-sex marriage in three U.S. states to HuffPost Weddings' first anniversary, we've enjoyed some pretty amazing moments.

In the spirit of reminiscing, we asked some top wedding industry insiders to share the biggest wedding trends of the year. Click through the slideshow below to see their picks!

"Blush colors, such as pinks and blues, really raised the bar -- from the runways, to celebrities like Jessica Biel, to today's bride." -- David Tutera, host of "My Fair Wedding" Blush gown by David Tutera, Mon Cheri Bridals.

"Structural cuts, such as peplums, spilled over the runways into the bridal world and will most definitely become even more popular in the upcoming seasons.” -- David Tutera, host of "My Fair Wedding" Peplum gown by David Tutera, Mon Cheri Bridals.

"Sparkle took center stage in 2012 with glitz built into every last detail. From table linens to invitations, cakes and wedding gowns alike, brides infused a bit of glitter into all of their favorite details." --Abby Larson, founder of Style Me Pretty

"Food seemed to be one of the most important ways that couples expressed their spunk and creativity. From milk and doughnut favors to mini corn dogs and beer apps, food definitely took center stage in 2012." --Abby Larson, founder of Style Me Pretty

"Brides and grooms of 2012 adored natural wood tables. They loved allowing the natural beauty of the wood shine by using only a runner on the table, rather than fully covering it with linen. We are using runners both horizontally and vertically to make each table unique." --Sharon Sacks, celebrity wedding planner

"A prevalent floral trend of 2012 was the use of multiple containers of varying sizes and heights to add dimension to the table. Rather than using one large centerpiece, our brides wished to have several small arrangements of flowers with a similar color scheme to make each table arrangement unique and special." --Sharon Sacks, celebrity wedding planner

"Whether they were woven discreetly into a vineyard-themed wedding or placed front and center on a trendy invite, stripes and bold patterns were seen all over the place this year. Chevron was a favorite choice for many brides, and plaid even had a moment in fall and winter weddings." --Kellee Khalil, founder of Lover.ly

"From hearty burgers to Grandma’s cookie recipe to late-night doughnut trucks, couples paid personal attention to food this year. No more banquet menus and cocktail hours that feel like an afterthought. 2012 served up food that really says something about the bride and groom." --Kellee Khalil, founder of Lover.ly

Douglas Benedetti Searching For Owner Of Lost Wedding Ring He Found In California

KINGVALE, Calif. -- Finding a lost wedding ring along a snowy highway is hard enough. But a Good Samaritan in Northern California also has to track down the man it belongs to.

Douglas Benedetti says he met the man but doesn't know his name or phone number.

Benedetti says the man was searching for the ring on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near Kingvale in the Sierra earlier this month. He told Benedetti he'd lost the ring while putting chains on his vehicle.

Benedetti, who installs chains for people on the highway, decided to return to the area hours after the man left. After a little less than an hour of searching, he came across the ring in the snow next to a semi-truck.

Benedetti wants to return the ring. But all he has to go on is its inscription: "Lisa, 5th June, 2010."

Gangnam Style, Royal Wedding, Olympics Top Google UK 2012 Searches

Google has released its overview of what people in the UK concerned themselves with during the past year, and naturally it is a mixed bag.

The top searches of the year were for football competition, Euro 2012, the late singer Whitney Houston, ubiquitous techno nightmare "Gangnam Style", and the latest Bond movie "Skyfall".

Top trend of all was the aforementioned football competition, London was the most searched for city in Google Maps, Stella McCartney was the top trending designer, and Gangnam Style was the top trending song.

Top of the local Olympian tree is Andy Murray, who took gold there, won the U.S. Open and was the most searched for in Olympic sports. His peer in the cycling, Victoria Pendleton won the most searched for reality television personality for her part in "Celebrity Come Dancing". Usain Bolt was the most searched for Global Olympian.

Jeremy Hunt was the top trending politician of 2012, and was supported in second place by London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Children's TV show Mike the Knight was top of the TV slot overall and beat off the drama "Homeland" and cake cooking show "Bake Off".

The most searched for local place is a hotel, and the big "what is..." and "how to..." searches include "Love" and "Kiss" and "Flirt".

How to meditate was in there too, which is good as it shows that people were trying to calm down at least.
