i am built new site in joomla 2.5 i am install today template

i am built new site in joomla 2.5 i am install template but main menu layout is vertical i want layout is horizontal pleas check my site and tell me what is change http://ppscjobsinfo.com/

Depending on your template you may have to add some stuff to a CSS file. This tutorial tells you how to do it all:

http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/joomla-25/menus/create-horizontal-menu

If you want dividers between the menu items look at this tutorial instead:

http://www.barryflood.com/howtocreateahorizontalmenuwithdividersinjoomla25.php

Some templates have this feature built into them already but you would have to check your documentation or look through the CSS files to see what the menu suffix is for it.

Joomla or Wordpress which is best for e-commerce site.

There is no definite answer. But in order to be able to answer, you would need to supply the following information:

1) What are you mainly going to sell
2) How many products are you going to sell
3) Is your web experience rather high or low
4) Do you need multi currency support
5) Do you need multi language support

Magento can easily do them all, but has quite steep learning curve, also in the wrong hands Magento can get extremely slow.
PrestaShop is fast and easy, but inside is French. Some of the modules are bit harder to make for the system because of that. Otherwise it also supports everything above.

Joomla + VirtueMart I do not recommend for the moment, since they are quite buggy. Maybe in a few months time it will improve. From the current view I see that PrestaShop has taken away quite a lot of popularity from Joomla VirtueMart

Wordpress + e-Commerce (getshopped.org) - is easy to set up. Main difference between Magento/PrestaShop/VirtueMart is that you can put your products literally anywhere on your site (post, page, widget, etc...) thru use of shortcodes. Downside is the lack of multi currency support and extra plugins are required in order to get the multi currency support working properly.

And again... before asking which e-commerce software is the best.... please supply what you want to do with your potential future webshop.

Couldn't install new theme in Joomla! Why is that?

Most likely it is a compatibility issue. Are you sure that you are using a template that is compatible with the version of Joomla you are running? If you have a 2.5 site 1.5 templates won't work. Sometimes 3.0 templates may not work with 2.5 sites.

Other than that there is also the possibility that the file needs to be unzipped before you upload and install. Sometimes developers package multiple versions of a component, template, or module in one big zip file and you have to unzip and then use the one that matches your joomla version.

If you are sure that it is neither of these problems then unzip the package and upload them all to your /templates folder. Then go into extensions->Discover and tell it to discover anything missing. It will look through the folders and find anything that has not been properly installed.

If that doesn't work then my advice would be to find a different template. :)

Drupal Vs Joomla

I've been using Drupal for almost 4 years now and although I like it, I'm not really a Drupal fanboy.

So IMHO :
1. How easy is Drupal to get your head round and learn to use
- It is VERY hard to learn Drupal, There is no centralized configuration page. No centralized content creation page, it is the responsibility of you (the site developer) to make things easier for your user.
Never think of Drupal as a ready to use CMS, it is a "lego block" available for you to build your CMS.

2. Availability of add ons (components/modules etc)
- Tons of modules available to download for free, but not all of module is built with the same quality (code wise, usability wise), and not all of the module will be updated or fixed eventhough you submit bug / patch, it all in the hands of module developer, some dev is nice and listen to user, some dev is too busy to fix etc etc. so most of the time, if you need X function that available to X module but not working right = PAY someone to fix them for you.

3. Ease of adding shopping cart functionality
- Ubercart is very easy to install and configure for most e-commerce site, to fully customize it is another story. Drupal commerce is new and supposedly is easier if you want a fully customized shopping cart, but IMO it will take longer time to build and most of its supporting modules is still in dev state.

4. Quality of forum support
- It is the geek world, they talked code and code, very contrast to wordpress.org support forum. So if you like code and fluent in php, Drupal.org forum is your sanctuary.

5. Ease of updating, maintaining sites for those with limited knowledge
- maintaining drupal site is hard, Drupal it self is slow, you need advanced caching, varnish, memcached, etc etc.
- updating drupal to any major version change (eg 6 to 7) will BREAK things, you will need to sort it manually and it will vary from case to case.
- updating drupal from minor version (eg 7.6 to 7.7) most of the time will not break things, but updating contrib module is another story, some module will not break some module break some module destroy site.

In short, Drupal equips you with nuclear power, and with super power comes great responsibility (and headache).
