Search engine friendly web hosting helps your website generate more traffic by making sure you stay up on the rankings in a search engine’s search results. But is this really true?

When a new web-master decides to take the plunge and buy web hosting it is never an easy step to take but many never give search engine friendly hosting a second thought.

Let me discuss website hosting and how it is vitally important to the success of your website when it comes to dominating the search results.

Search Engine Friendly Web HostingIt is vitally important for your blogs and websites to be fast and easily accessible.

This includes crashes, errors or just the fact that it was too slow to load content because of the slow server.

You need to house your website on a well-oiled machine that is both maintained and updated regularly. We all know that people are very impatient now a days and a fast website will please the users far more than something that takes too long to load.

Of course there all so many factors that contribute to the speed of a website, however you really need to start with great Web hosting in the first place. After that you can work on keeping your own site running smoothly knowing that your hosting will not be causing speed problems for your website.

So what has a slow website got to do with search rankings?

Well when a user visits your website from a listing in the search engines, if they are confronted by a slow website, they will possibly bounce right off your website. This is not good for search engine rankings as it shows that a user either went to your website by accident or was not impressed with what they saw. You can use sites like Google Analytics or Pingdom to check your site speed.

Have you ever had your site go down? Well it is a nightmare for any Webmaster! Every minute damages your reputation and your SEO (search engine optimization) rankings. Imagine all the people trying to access your website and not been able to.

When the spiders come to crawl your website and it is not available, this is not good for search engine rankings. Especially if they come back a few days later and your website is still not available. This is why we need to make sure we have the best web hosting that has the most reliable up time percentage possible.

I use HostGator for my website hosting and one big reason is their 24/7 instant chat support. When I have a problem I quickly logon to chat to a real person to help me out.

Having well over 20 websites, trust me, I have used this service many, many times. Out of all these times that I’ve had a problem, Hostgator has quickly fixed my errors 99% of the time and some errors had nothing at all to do with their servers. That is why I use them, because you cannot possibly pay for good web hosting service like that.

Updating your website regularly so that it is easier and faster to access every time is important too and staying in touch with any latest methods which can help you generate more traffic. This is also true for your Web hosting as they need to update their software on the server to keep up with technology. Servers that run older versions of software run the risk of malware invasion and also errors on their customer’s websites.

You are probably wondering what automated backup has to do with ranking in the top search engines, but just imagine when your site crashes and you have nothing to replace it with? That is when automated backup comes in handy. The longer it takes you to replace your website, the more your rankings will drop, so having a backup handy will save a lot of work.

Whether or not a search engine friendly host exists, you can now see how choosing the right website hosting can affect your rankings in search engines. This is exactly why I would only recommend buying hosting from the top web hosting companies as they have a bigger reputation to lose. A word of caution, whatever you do, don’t ever go for free web hosting. You’ll wish you hadn’t!

What about you – are you satisfied with your current web hosting?

You can, if you're interested.

I always knew the truth.

But it cannot be trusted.

Relax, they're just balls.

It always ends with herpes.

From the rattling the stars to running the streets. You can do it all.

Well, that was unexpected...and disturbing.

Somebody's a pessimist.

It's always cheese.

Donut time, the most important time.

First bread, then before you know it, you're stealing a timelord.

Household machines create such pain and turmoil.

Can a new search engine survive with google, yahoo & bing?

I think I can, I think I can... :)

Look, competing with Google? Yikes. No way.

But as always, niches can be king and dominating a niche can be done many ways - one of which is by offering a valid search engine.

I don't need to make as much as Google, Blekko, Dogpile, Ixquick, DuckDuckGo, etc, to offer a viable product and if not 'compete,' than still succeed financially. Plenty of room underneath the big fish, and it's a world of internet traffic, tabs, and options.

I'm launching my search engine next month. I don't expect to rock the world, but certainly have a strong plan to carve out a significant chunk. :)

Gross I just had an ant on me. New place. :(

How do i get the "purest" search results (e.g. every personalization incl geographic turned OFF)

I want my Google SERPs to be as "pure" as possible, with every personalization / historical search weighting thing turned off (aka free from anything that might skew them so I can do apples-to-apples comparisons to track performance.) So what I do before I run a SERP audit is:
(1) I make sure I'm signed OUT of Google
(2) I clear my browser (Chrome) cache and all cookies
(3) I go here: google.com/history/optout to DISABLE customizations based on search activity.

HOWEVER, there is still SOME personalization going on, AT LEAST GEOGRAPHICALLY, because even after I do the above 3 things, the SERPs are different (in some cases dramatically) depending on where I'm searching from. For example, when I run a search for club promoter when I'm in Miami, there are a lot of Miami-based nightclub-related pages in my SERPs. But when I run it from Montreal, there are a lot of Montreal-oriented pages. And the difference can be DRAMATIC in some cases: when I follow the 3 steps above to turn off all personalization, and I run a Google search for keyword XYZ:
(i) when I'm in Montreal, my website is #56 in Google SERPs
(ii) when I'm in Miami, my website is not in the top 500 (!!)

So two questions:
(1) Is there anything else I can do to make my search results as "pure" as possible? (esp. related to geography?)
(2) What could account for such a DRAMATIC difference (described in (ii) above where my site can move around hundreds of slots for the same keyword search from different cities)?

Las Vegas Strip Shooting: Police Search For Gunman, SUV

Las Vegas Strip Shooting Smoke and flames billow from a burning vehicle following a shooting and multi-car accident on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas early Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. (AP Photo/Erik Lackey)

LAS VEGAS — Police searched Friday for a Range Rover with dark tinted windows and custom rims that set off a fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip when someone in the luxury SUV opened fire on a Maserati in a scene that onlookers described as worthy of an action flick.

Three people were killed and at least six more were injured in what marked the latest in a series of violent episodes in Las Vegas in recent months.

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie told reporters the shooting was sparked by an argument in the valet area of the nearby Aria hotel-casino, and spilled over to one of the busiest intersections on the Las Vegas Strip. As bullets flew from the Range Rover, the Maserati ran a red light and smashed into a taxi that exploded into flames, killing the driver and a passenger. The driver of the Maserati was also killed, and his passenger was wounded.

Police have not released the identities of the victims.

Three more cars and a utility truck also collided as the Range Rover sped off in the darkness at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Las Vegas police Sgt. John Sheahan said the Range Rover was last seen near the Venetian resort as it headed north from the shooting scene. He said police have video from traffic cameras at the intersection and were checking hotel surveillance systems, but added that the video will not be made public.

"What happened will not be tolerated," Gillespie said, vowing that the shooters would be "found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

Jogger Eric Lackey was on his way back to the New York-New York hotel when he snapped a cellphone photo of the blazing scene moments after the crash. Black smoke billowed from the flaming taxi, amid popping sounds from the fire.

Lackey, of Forest Hill, Md., said a security officer in a yellow shirt performed CPR on a person on the sidewalk while police officers canvassed a small crowd of perhaps 15 onlookers gathering at the scene.

"Police were asking if anyone was still in the vehicles and if they heard gunfire," Lackey told The Associated Press. "That's when I realized it wasn't just a regular accident."

The effects of the shooting and crashes were felt hours later as the Strip remained closed, leading to snarled traffic, until it reopened late Thursday night.

The fiery rampage shocked tourists.

"We get stabbings, and gang violence," said Mark Thompson, who was visiting from Manchester, England, with his wife, "but this is like something out of a movie. Like `Die Hard' or something."

Police said they were contacting authorities in three neighboring states about the Range Rover Sport that had a car dealer's advertisement in place of a license plate.

In Southern California, the California Highway Patrol alerted officers in at least three counties to be on the lookout for the SUV.

Witnesses also told police the SUV and Maserati had come from the nearby CityCenter area, the home of Aria, just south of the site of the attack.

"We have numerous witnesses to this," Sheahan said. "But what is the genesis of this? We don't know yet."

The crumpled, gray Maserati, which had no license plate, came to rest several feet away from the incinerated taxi.

"The people I feel sorry for are the people in the taxi," said Elvina Joyce, a tourist from Regina, Saskatchewan. "Seconds made all the difference in the world for them. Wrong place, wrong time."

The area near the scene has been the site of high-profile violence in the past.

Rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in 1996 about a block away under similar circumstances, as assailants opened fire on his luxury sedan from a vehicle on Flamingo Road. The killing has never been solved.

And Las Vegas has had several violent episodes in recent months.

Two people were critically wounded in a shooting at a parking garage on Feb. 6, and a tourist was stabbed last Saturday in an elevator at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.

On New Year's Eve at Circus Circus, a man pulled out a revolver and fired it into the ground just off the main floor of the casino. Less than two weeks earlier, a woman allegedly slashed the face of a blackjack dealer at the Bellagio.

Kevin Collins Case: San Francisco Police Search Home For Remains Of Boy Missing Since 1984

The San Francisco Police Department and the FBI launched a search on Tuesday believed to be connected to the case of Kevin Collins, a 10-year-old boy whose 1984 disappearance sparked a national campaign against child abduction.

ABC News first reported on the search of a home at Masonic Avenue and Page Street, where the person believed to be responsible for Collins' kidnapping was living at the time of the incident. Investigators have allegedly been digging in the backyard and basement of the property looking for the child's remains.

The SFPD could not verify that the search was related to Collins' disappearance, as the warrant is sealed. However, Public Information Officer Albie Esparza did confirm that officers are searching a property at Page and Masonic, and that the SFPD, the FBI and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office are all involved in the case.

Esparza said that more information may become available once the search is completed.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Collins was last seen on February 10, 1984 while waiting for a bus at the corner of Oak Street and Masonic Avenue after a school basketball practice. Witnesses said Collins was seen talking to a tall, blonde-haired man shortly before he vanished.

In the days following the incident, thousands of fliers, milk cartons, billboards and newspapers circulated photos and information about the boy, prompting a nationwide response. The case eventually inspired abduction prevention efforts, such as the Amber Alert.

UPDATE: San Francisco Police said in a press release Tuesday that several bones were located during the search. According to the SFPD, the bones are believed to be from an animal and not a human, but "further analysis is necessary."

Kurt Ruppert, Missing Skydiver, Not Yet Found As Search Resumes Saturday

SEATTLE — Dozens of searchers on Friday failed to find a skydiver who's been missing since he jumped out of a helicopter at 6,500 feet in the Cascade foothills east of Seattle.

The search for Kurt Ruppert, 29, of Lake City, Fla., was suspended when darkness fell Friday evening, and efforts to locate him will resume Saturday, said King County sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West.

When Ruppert jumped Thursday afternoon, he was wearing a special wing suit with fabric under the arms to allow him to glide like a flying squirrel.

Searchers were hoping Ruppert was stuck in a tree with his parachute or perhaps lost in rugged state-owned land around 4,200-foot Mount Si, West said.

Authorities know the flight pattern of the aircraft, but a number of factors have made it difficult to find Ruppert. West said she was told wing suit flyers don't deploy parachutes until they reach an altitude of 2,000 feet.

"The speed and height of the jump would enable him to travel a large distance in a short amount of time," West said.

About four-dozen people began searching for Ruppert on Thursday, then resumed the effort at daybreak Friday in a 5-square-mile area that includes Mount Si, which is covered with trees on steep slopes. It's popular with hikers even though it can be treacherous.

"We've got a lot of search and rescues up here every year," West said. "It's dangerous and difficult. The footing is bad and there are lots of cliffs."

It was foggy Friday morning, but the weather cleared enough for a helicopter to join the search. The temperature was in the 40s, and Ruppert isn't dressed or equipped to stay out overnight, authorities said.

Ruppert was wearing a brown and green jumpsuit that likely blends into the terrain.

He was skydiving with two friends, and they were taking turns jumping from the helicopter. The friends were waiting at a grassy landing area, but no one saw whether Ruppert's chute deployed.

"The guys on the ground could not see where he jumped from their angle, and the pilot couldn't see when he went out the door because he was focused on flying," West said.

Ruppert has been skydiving seven or eight years and is good at handling a wing suit, said a friend, Art Shaffer, owner of Skydive Palatka in Palatka, Fla.

Shaffer jumped with Ruppert at midnight on New Year's Eve and said Ruppert left Tuesday to jump with friends in Washington.

Ruppert is single and once owned a landscaping business, said Shaffer, who is in contact with Ruppert's family and friends.

"We've got our fingers crossed," he said.
