Real Talk About Why So Many Blogs Fail
There are so many new blogs being born every day simply because blogging is one of the easiest and most popular formats for creating content that we can use to spread our message online.
Blogging is also a popular strategy when it comes to making money online. Many of the top bloggers make a substantial income from their blogs in order to support themselves and their families.
Others start blogs because their friends are blogging and they want to be like their friends. Some find enjoyment in blogging and set-up blogs because they enjoy writing and blogging about things that they love.
In a recent post on a blog, I have read that 97% of blogs fail, (sorry for my bad memory I totally forgot where I read it so I am not able to link to this article on the blog), and I have strong reasons to believe this statement.
This is because while browsing a few blogs that I used to visit are now gone or, the owner decided to stop posting for one reason or another.
So this means only 3% of blogs that were created will have real success. So you can just imagine how many free blogs exist on the internet today.
This lead me to ask the question, “Why are so many blogs coming to an end?”
1. Lack Of Passion & Knowledge
A lot of people start blogs based on a topics that they have little or no knowledge about. They simply start a blog because the topic is one that has a high level of popularity.
Have you spotted the reasons why they fail at blogging?
Yes you do! Blogs shouldn’t be created on a topic because of it’s popularity. And no I am not saying that you should not start a blog on a topic that is popular because you can become successful with a blog that has a high popularity niche.
What I am trying to say is that it is always best to start a blog on a topic that you are familiar with its topic and also make sure that is something that you love.
True blogging should be about the love for a certain topic which you want to share your knowledge with others.
2. No Time To Blog Right Now
One of the little known reasons why most bloggers fail is because they don’t dedicate time to their blog.
In order for one to become a successful blogger then this person has to devote some time to his/her blog. If not then your blog will end up in the list 97% that fails.
Create a timetable or schedule and try your best as possible to stick with it.
A person who doesn’t find time for their blog will often come up with the conclusion that blogging is hard. Or blogging is for a person who has tons of free time on their hand.
If you take just a few minutes each day to do article writing, networking and blog commenting; you will be surprised how much this can impact on your blogging success.
3. I Want To Make Money Now
One of the major reasons why blogs are being created today is because you can make money blogging.
In fact, blogging is said to be one of the easiest money making process online.
But should this be our aim as true bloggers? Should we make it our first priority to make money from our blogs?
If this is the case then you might end up failing with your blog.
I agree that we all need to make money to survive in this world today because the economic crisis has made a bad impact on everyone.
So creating a blog can help to pay the bills and take care of other stuff. But your aim to make money all the time from your blog can cause you to fail.
4. Many Blogs Lack Creativity
If you own a blog, what you may notice is that people can be attracted to your blog post design or your articles.
This is because your blog has a unique creative design which attracted them to your blog in the first place.
It may be your creative writing which pulled them in to subscribe to your blog. If a blog lacks creativity in both design and content, will this not cause the blog to lose out on it’s potential success?
Yes it would.
You can make your blog creatively unique by purchasing a WordPress theme for your blog, one that matches your blogs topic.
As I said earlier in this article, your blog can be a part of the 3% that are successful.
1. Blog on a Regular Basis
Blogging involves writing articles for your blog so so that you can share what you have written for others to read.
If each time you publish a blog post and you realize that people come to your blog, they read and leave comments, this means that your blog is a source of vital information to them.
Writing articles for your blog on a regular basis is the ideal thing to do to achieve blogging success. Blog on a regular basis so that when people do a blog search, you will always have a stream of traffic coming to your site.
2. Network As Much As Possible
Networking plays a big roll in blogging success. You have to make sure that you communicate with people who are bloggers in your niche. This will help them to see that you want to become blogging buddies.
Share their contents and they in turn will do the same for your content.
When you network with other bloggers you can get great blogging ideas for your next blog post.
You may have a minor error on your blog that you need help with, if you make friends through networking then you may be able to get some assistance through this as well.
Networking and leveraging social media will help you build a impressive brand for you and your blog.
3. Traffic Is Needed For Success
Tons of traffic is what will help a blog to become successful.
If you want to become a successful blogger then you have to make it your aim to get traffic to your blog. Remember without the traffic then you will never be a successful blogger who makes money blogging.
What you need to do is participate in guest posting, forum submission, blog commenting, social networking and also write excellent articles for your blogs on a regular basis.
The more traffic that you have then the more success you will have.
Should more blogs be created since so many of them are failing?
Well yes!
Blogs will and should be created because they can become successful. I didn’t know that my blog would be this successful. Ileane didn’t know that her blog would have this much success.
What we do know is that if we put in the added work and dedicate much of our time to our blogs then they will become successful!
So don’t be afraid to become a blogger if you aren’t a blogger as yet. Start your blog today!
Anybody can make their blog successful.
It just takes a little time and patience, dedication and determination. With that then you can make your blog successful.

Blogs that make money almost all have one thing in common: they provide high-quality content.
The only exception are a few scam blogs that make money only temporarily until Google catches up with them.
High-quality content is informative and well written, although that doesn’t mean it’s extensive and grammatically perfect.
Extensive documentation belongs in a book, not on a blog, and striving to write perfectly is a great way to get nothing done.
Producing informative and well-written content is within the grasp of any competent adult. All you need to do is use plain English to tell your audience one useful thing they didn’t know before they started reading your blog. If you master writing useful information, you master the number one step towards creating blogs that make money.
I started providing quality content almost by accident on my first blog. You see I was obsessed with computers and how they worked and just wanted to share my knowledge in an easy to understand way. That is exactly what I did and have been rewarded ever since.
Blogs that make money are generally consistent. There are exceptions to this rule, but they are rare. Consistency applies mainly to three characteristics of the blog:
1. A consistent posting schedule, usually daily or weekly
2. Consistent high-quality posts
3. Consistent post formulation
A consistent posting schedule is probably most important and most common among blogs that make money. But not any blogging schedule will do the trick—it needs to be a schedule people can easily predict, such as daily, weekdays, weekly, or bi-weekly.
Posting every three or five days will only confuse your audience as posts appear on a different day of each week. If you want to post more frequently than once a week but not every day, make sure you post on the same two or three days every week.
Also try to post at the same time everyday. This helps encourage your most loyal readers to visit at the appointed time so they can jump start the comments. But the main advantage is that your posts consistently appear on the same day each week to people in different time zones.
The final but perhaps most important consideration for blogs that make money is customers. That’s right: customers not visitors.
Many blogs take great pride in the amount of traffic they receive, but building your site with the intention of receiving throngs of traffic is pointless unless you can monetize that traffic.
You want customers, not traffic. But how do you count customers and how do you attract them instead of meaningless traffic?
Start by looking at your business model. Anyone who makes you money through your site is a customer, whether they click an advertisement or buy a product. Grab statistics and figure out what on your site best attracts your customers. Then try a simple experiment:
Try to create a blog post or static page on your site which attracts the best visitor-to-customer ratio, also called conversion rate. See if you can get 10% of your visitors to convert into customers; then try to get 20%; and keep trying to increase your conversion rate. By discovering how to convert your visitors into customers, you’ll learn much more about your customers and you’ll be able to figure out exactly how to write more blog posts that make money.
It is not easy learning how to monetize a website the right way and only experience will bring that knowledge. But you have to take action, fail and learn. New webmasters should never wait to learn this part of the business as they might realize too late that their blog is one that will never make money. There are bad website ideas out there and it is better to test the waters as soon as you start your blog.

Subscribe to Foreign Blogs in your Native Language with Google Scripts
Learn how to automatically translate foreign language RSS Feeds with a simple Google Script and subscribe to them in your favorite news reader.
This is the Digital Inspiration RSS feed, automatically translated to French language.
Han Han is the world’s most popular blogger but am not subscribed to his site’s RSS feed as the content is written in Chinese. Some web apps did allow you to subscribe to foreign-language RSS feeds but ever since Google Translation API turned into a premium service, most of them have shut shop.
This is the Digital Inspiration RSS feed, automatically translated to French language.You can build your own feed translation service using Google Scripts in less than a minute. This offers a few advantages:
You can easily subscribe to foreign-language RSS feeds and they’ll display content translated in your native language. For instance, here’s Han Han’s blog feed translated to English.You can offer your blog’s RSS feed is multiple languages and thus reach a wider audience. For instance, the default RSS feed of Digital Inspiration is in English but, thanks to Google Scripts, you can also subscribe to the feed in Français, German, Hindi, Arabic, Español or any other language supported by Google Translate.Google Reader does include feed translation but the issue is that quite a few of us are using apps like Flipboard, Reeder, Feedly, etc. to keep up with feeds and none of them really offer language translation.Now that you have a good idea of what we are trying to achieve, let’s see the script in action.
Open the Google Script and choose File -> Make a copy to create a personal copy of that feed translation script into your Google Drive.Replace the source language (line #4), the target language (line #7) and the RSS feed URL (line #10) with your own values.Go to File -> Manage Versions and choose Save a new version. You may leave the description field blank.Go to Publish -> Deploy as Web App, choose “Anyone, even Anonymous” under “Who can access the app” and click the Deploy button.Google Script will now offer you a link to the web app. That’s actually the new URL of the translated RSS feed which you can directly subscribe in Google Reader or any other news reader app like Reeder, Flipboard, etc.
If you wish to translate another RSS feed, or offer the same feed but in another language, just go back to step #1.
Google Translate API is now a paid service but if you access the same through Google Scripts, which we have done in this case, there isn’t any fee involved.

Most blogs use the following layout for their home pages and the archives. There’s the title of the post, a short excerpt (description) and a “read more” link that points to the full article. Some blogs may also add a featured image near the post’s excerpt.
A common layout for blogsThere’s one little problem with the above layout though – it wastes your Google PageRank and thus may not be the most optimal layout as far as SEO is concerned.
Let me try explaining it in simple English.
Your blog’s homepage has a finite amount of Google PageRank that is equally distributed among all the links that exist on that page. Thus, if you put 10 links on a web page whose PageRank is 5, each of those links is passed 0.5 PageRank. If you decrease the number of links from 10 to 5, each of the links will be awarded with a PageRank of 1.
In the above example, there exist 2-3 links per post on the homepage – the post title (1), the featured image (2) and the “read more” link (3). If you can have just create one link from the home page to the inner post page, the linked page will get more PageRank which may benefit them in organic search rankings.
How? A possible solution is that you get rid of the “read more” link on the blog homepage (and archive pages) and instead apply a different CSS style to the post titles so that they instantly appear as links – you can use a different font family, increase the font size and maybe apply a different color (like some shade of dark blue).
