creating database with "code first" in Entity Framework

Hello,

I would like to create database with "code first" approach in Entity Framework. However, even if I don't get any exceptions, database is not created. What may be the reason for that?

app.config

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"    connectionString="Server=.\SQLEXPRESS;Database=MT4Analyzer;Trusted_Connection=true;"/>Database.cs public class EntityData : DbContext    // DbContext required: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Web Tools\Packages\EntityFramework.5.0.0\lib\net40\EntityFramework.dll    public List EntityStringColumns { get; set; }    public List EntityDoubleColumns { get; set; }        EntityStringColumns = new List();        EntityDoubleColumns = new List();TheOtherFile.cs // Here currentDBRow has all values that I want to add to DB.    var result = db.SaveChanges();Variable 'result' has value 0 and database is not created. I can log to SQL Server with Management Studio as current user or as "sa" (however "sa" requires password) because "Mixed Mode" is enabled.

Regards!

Belmont Falls To Arizona, Still Searching For First NCAA Tournament Win

SALT LAKE CITY -- Belmont is winless in six NCAA tournament appearances and the Bruins have lost big in five of those, including Thursday's 81-64 loss to sixth-seeded Arizona.

Still, coach Rick Byrd said this year's team overachieved.

"It's hard, but I told those guys in there, I wouldn't have given them a chance to win this season (after losing three All-Conference players)," Byrd said.

Instead the Bruins went on to win 26 games and the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, and even pick up Top 25 votes along the way while relying on plenty of 3-point shots.

Belmont never got going offensively against Arizona, starting 1 of 11 overall and 0 of 4 from beyond the arc before finishing at 39 percent shooting and 30 percent on 3s.

"I think this was pretty simple," Byrd said. "Arizona outplayed us."

Mark Lyons scored 23 points to lead Arizona (26-7), which used its huge size advantage to shut down the Bruins (26-7).

Arizona held a 44-18 edge on the boards, outscored Belmont 36-18 in the paint, blocked five shots and outshot the Bruins from 3-point range.

The Wildcats made 9 of 17 3-pointers, including a critical one from Solomon Hill with 4:40 remaining to stop an 11-2 Belmont run, and shot 57 percent overall.

Bruins guard Ian Clark entered shooting better than 46 percent from 3-point range, tops in the nation, but was 3 of 8 from beyond the arc.

"I don't blame people for picking Belmont," Arizona coach Sean Miller said. "They have a great backcourt. They earned the seed they got. You look at them on paper and I don't know if anybody relishes seeing them in their bracket."

Kerron Johnson led Belmont with 22 points and Clark finished with 21.

Kevin Parrom, Kaleb Tarczewski and Nick Johnson added 12 points each for Arizona, which led 32-20 at halftime after closing on an 11-2 run.

Byrd didn't realize Arizona's defense could be so formidable.

Belmont's lowest field goal total this season entering the NCAAs was 22 against Kansas. Arizona held the Bruins to 20.

Arizona led by as many as 21 points, 64-43, with 7:45 remaining before Belmont went on a 10-0 run, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Clark and J.J. Mann. The 3s came just seven seconds apart as Mann stole the inbounds pass.

But Parrom countered with a driving layup and Hill hit another 3-pointer _Arizona's eighth – to bump the Wildcats' lead back to 15 points, 69-54, with 4:29 left.

Arizona's size advantage was evident early as the Wildcats jumped out to a 14-4 lead thanks to a 14-3 edge on the boards and cold shooting by Belmont.

Belmont wouldn't hit its first 3-pointer until Johnson's step-back shot with 10:55 left in the first half. Blake Jenkins followed with a towering dunk off a pass from Johnson to pull the Bruins to 14-9 and Clark's first 3-pointer got Belmont within 16-14 with 8:33 left in the first half.

Arizona closed on a 16-6 run to take a 32-20 lead into the break.

At halftime, the Wildcats had made twice as many 3-pointers (4 of 9) than Belmont (2 of 13).

Nick Johnson was the primary defender on Clark most of the night, with help from Jordin Mayes.

"Sometimes they score and you get the sense that tonight he earned his points," Miller said of Clark. "And that's what we want them to do, earn points."

If Byrd didn't realize Arizona could play that well defensively, Miller said it was because of the Pac-12 competition.

"We have been a good rebounding team all season. But if you put us under the microscope in our conference, we got away from the dominant rebounding team that we once were and we talked about it," Miller said.

Byrd said the Bruins also hurt themselves.

"Again, this is crying over spilled milk, but we missed five layups in the first half," he said. "We missed the same kind of 3s that they made throughout the game, and if you're going to beat a team that is that good and that talented, you kind of have to make it go the other way. You've got to make big-time plays and finish layups and we have to shoot it better than they shoot it, and we didn't do it."

In a new interview, Valerie Harper shares her thoughts about being one of the first stars to utter the word "gay" on TV.

Speaking on an episode of "The Doctors," Harper -- who recently revealed that she has terminal brain cancer -- recalled the time she made TV history by using the word "gay" on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

"The audience went crazy," the 73-year-old actress, who played Rhoda Morgenstern on the iconic series, recalled. "They started laughing and they wouldn't stop ... they had to cut the laugh, because it was too long."

Brainstorming design contest - Selecting upto 3 winners. $50 first prize

I'm looking to make a custom Keytar and have been having some creative "writers block" so I thought a contest for design ideas might help me along. I'll attach an image for ideas, but feel free to google Keytar for other ideas and what they are if you're unfamiliar with them.

There are some SPECIFIC things I want from the winners:

First, it needs to be a Vector file (AI is fine, Possibly some CAD formats, PM me)

Second, it needs to be TO SCALE in Millimeters.

Third, it needs to have (at minimum) a rectangle for the keys of exactly 684mm wide by 162mm high. If you want to put in keys for illustration that's cool, it's 49 keys, but the main thing I want is the outline shape and box in proper proportion.

I want shape / design ideas. I'm not looking for clip-art ready stuff, just properly dimensioned shapes that look appealing. Feel free to trace/tweak the ideas in the picture as entries, that's part of the job is getting stuff in a polished, dimensioned shape. I'm not an AI pro. These ideas need to be actually usable, durable and producable.

Contest examples.jpg

If I get enough appealing entries, I am very open to awarding additional prizes. ($20 minimum each)

Every prize winning design (or designs) will be 100% my property for use as I see fit.

I will close this contest on March 1st, and pay via Paypal in USD.
This is an ad that I inserted!
Thanks! Hopefully this will be a fun challenge for some of you.

The First Rule Of Traffic Directing

A lot of people get into a real flap about not having enough visitors to their site, but fail to concentrate on other matters of importance. The truth of the matter is that if you want to ensure that people focus on something, you have to first give them something to focus on. It should go without saying, but in matters of website popularity, the first and most important thing to concentrate on is that there is a reason for your website to be popular. As the line from the famous movie Field Of Dreams goes: “If you build it, they will come”.

Nothing succeeds like success. You will definitely get more traffic through to your blog if you give people reason to “sell” it to their friends. The surest way to do this is to make it something people will want to read. A great number of people surf the Internet in the same way every day. They log on, read their email and then check on their favorite sites. For many people, their favorite site is a blog – something written by a person with a similar profile to them who writes in a funny, interesting way.

Of course there is more that you can do to get your site in people’s minds in addition to making the site good. But nothing will guarantee a build-up of traffic like writing things that people want to read. The first rule of website traffic directing is to have a website that is worth directing traffic to.

First And Early Oscars Moments For Stars Are Adorable, Endearing (PHOTOS)

Everyone remembers their first time... at the Oscars, that is.

Angelina Jolie stepped onto her first Academy Awards red carpet decked out in a pouffy white lace '80s gown as her dad's date in 1986. Before that, bonafide Hollywood heavyweight Meryl Streep made her Oscars debut as a bright-eyed novice in the '70s. Anne Hathaway doesn't have to think too far back to remember her first time -- the actress presented an award in a glittery Valentino gown in 2007.

Each lady that attends her first Oscars is faced with a daunting task: What does one wear to the film industry's most glam evening of the year? The results are sometimes fashionable, sometimes cringe-worthy and most of the time adorable.

In honor of tonight's big show, we've rounded up stars' first or early appearances at the Oscars. Scroll through, wax nostalgic and get pumped for the 2013 red carpet!

If You Lost Everything Today, Where Would You Start First?

TEN STEP PROCESS IF YOU'RE STARTING FROM SCRATCH

1- I would borrow $20 from any of my friends. if don't have friends then I'll write 10 articles on some hot topic and sell each article for minimum of $2 here at DP, and make $20.

2- Then I'll buy a domain name plus hosting.

3- Get an autoresponder account like free account at GetResponse, or $1 trial of aweber

4- Search on Google for a free PLR ebook related to my niche e.g internet marketing, and download it.

5- Then I'll download the free mind mapping software, and make a mind map of the important points given in that ebook.

6- Then I'll download the free CamStudio software and make a 15-30 minutes movie by explaining the mindmap.

7- Then I'll extract the audio from the video file in mp3 format.

8- Then I'll transcribe the audio file and make a pdf report.

9- Then search for free online ecover making sites and make ecover for the pdf report, dvd cover for the video and cd cover for the audio.

10- I'll install the wordpress on my domain and make a squeeze page and download page, and upload everything on to my site, and start promoting it in the forums related to my niche and build a list of at least 200-300 subscribers.

It'll only take you 3-4 days to accomplish everything as laid down in the above 10 steps. Later on when you have a 200-300 subscriber list you can do adswaps to grow your list and promote affiliate products or make your own product and sell to that list.

So this is the process i'll do if i lost everything and if i have to start from scratch.

Feedback On My First Single Page Website

For the slider, I'd put more bullets for each package, just to make it look like people get a lot more.

Not quite sure why you have a search box.

Web content with an indented first line of each paragraph is really outdated and looks weird to my eye. Increase the space between paras instead and get rid of the indent.

Move "Contact Me" to the top of the sidebar (or lose it, since you have a page for it).

Move the "Secure Payments by PayPal" info box to the bottom of the sidebar or just remove it, since you have it in the footer as well.

Lose the visitor count in the footer - that's so olde-worlde and looks awful on a pro site.

Always put share buttons (and subscribe, if needed) at the top of the sidebar, in the header or somewhere right up top where they're instantly visible.

You need Terms and Privacy pages.

Goal needs rewriting: "My goal is to assist innovators and entrepreneurs to reach their goals by helping them develop their websites to the reach their fullest potential." - "goal" repeated, remove "the". The last bit about potential sounds weird, especially since "their" can refer to the innovators and entrepreneurs or the websites.

Did anyone else note the irony of asking for feedback on a site offering website analysis and feedback? :) (No offense intended, of course... it just tickled me.)

World's First Alcoholism Vaccine Set To Begin Preclinical Trials In Chile (VIDEO)

While past research has proffered potential treatments for alcoholism, scientists have yet to develop a working vaccine to treat the maladaptive pattern of drinking.

However, that may all change if researchers at the University of Chile are successful. In February, a team of scientists is set to begin preclinical trials for the world's first alcoholism vaccine, the Santiago Times reports.

The vaccine delivers somewhat of an instant hangover if the patient takes one sip of alcohol. Researchers will first test the vaccine on mice; human trials are set for November.

"If it works, it's going to have a worldwide impact, but with many vaccines one has to test them carefully." Dr. Juan Asenjo, director of the university's Institute for Cell Dynamics and Biotechnology, told the Santiago Times. "I think the chances that this one will work are quite high."

Visit the Santiago Times to read more about the vaccine.

In the body, alcohol is metabolized by first being broken down into the toxic acetaldehyde, which is then turned into acetate. However, when the second stage takes longer -- as is the case for some people -- acetaldehyde builds up in the body, resulting in symptoms typical of a hangover, such as rapid pulse, sweating and nausea.

When injected, the vaccine would work by sending a message to the liver to keep it from expressing these genes the metabolize alcohol, thus producing symptoms characteristic of a "medically induced hangover of epic proportions," FoodBeast writes.

Delivered in a single injection, the vaccine is expected to remain active in a patient's system for at least six months, and it cannot be reversed, according to the Santiago Times.

"With the vaccine, the desire to consume alcohol will be greatly reduced thanks to these reactions," Asenjo told Radio Cooperativa, according to the Agence France-Presse.

Asenjo and his team first revealed their intentions to develop an alcoholism vaccine in January 2011, the APF notes. At the time, the genetic therapy, which targets the enzymes that metabolize alcohol, was found to cut dependent rats' consumption of alcohol in half.

However, according to the report, Asenjo had higher aspirations for the vaccine's effect on humans, hoping the serum would reduce alcohol consumption by at least 90 percent.

While Asenjo's vaccine would be the first of its kind in the world, past research on alcoholism has suggested other forms of medicinal treatment, such as administering hallucinogens. In a March 2012 study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, researchers found "evidence for a clear and consistent beneficial effect of LSD for treating alcohol dependency."

Muscle relaxants like baclofen have also been used to cut down cravings.

Alcoholism carries a number of significant risk factors such as the potential for damage to the liver or other vital organs, the National Institutes of Health notes.

According to the World Health Organization's 2011 global status report, alcohol is the world’s third largest risk factor for disease and disability, and the harmful use of the substance leads to 2.5 million deaths annually.

In the U.S., the number of alcohol-induced deaths totaled 26,256 for 2011, slightly higher than 2010's count, according to a preliminary report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. U.S. Congressional findings indicate that an estimated 10 million Americans are problem drinkers.

Sergeant First Class Eric Pazz Surprises Wife, Son With Reunion At Rose Parade 2013 (VIDEO)

Eric Pazz Rose Parade 2013 Eric and Miriam Pazz share a kiss at the 2013 Rose Parade.

PASADENA, Calif. -- The best moment of the 2013 Rose Parade? An army sergeant who was deployed to Afghanistan stepped off a parade float to surprise his wife and young son, three months before his discharge date.

The surprise reunion, coordinated by the military and pet food company Natural Balance, was seven months in the making. The family was kept on a need-to-know basis, which means Army Sgt. First Class Eric Pazz, 32, wasn't informed of the surprise until five weeks ago, when he was tasked with telling wife Miriam Pazz, 29, that she won an an all expenses-paid trip to the Rose Parade through a military-only contest.

Miriam Pazz and her 4-year-old son Eric Pazz II made the trip from their home at a U.S. military base in Germany to Pasadena, Calif. As they stood on Colorado Boulevard watching the Rose Parade, they were stunned to see Sgt. Pazz atop the "Canines with Courage" parade float.

The crowd stood up to watch Pazz run and hug his family. He swept his son up in his arms and handed his wife a red rose. After the tearful reunion, Pazz returned to the float to finish the parade with his family by his side.

2013-01-01-ScreenShot20130101at3.14.35PM.jpg
Photo by Associated Press. Story continues below.

"It was an extremely emotional experience," he told The Huffington Post. "It was a very vulnerable, very emotional moment."

Before New Year's Day, Pazz had been separated from his family for seven months.

Miriam Pazz, who avoids watching surprise military reunions when her husband is deployed, was stunned that she was now the subject of such a video -- and a nationally televised one at that.

"It was overwhelming. It's too hard to describe," she told HuffPost.

The couple have been married for eight years, and Pazz said it was difficult to keep such a huge secret from his wife. "She knows me inside and out," he said to HuffPost. "She knows when I'm not being completely honest."

"It was pretty interesting," said Miriam Pazz, smiling. "He's usually not very good with secrets."

For the rest of the week, the family is going to spend time around Southern California visiting Hollywood and Disneyland. But Pazz already knows that the hardest thing about his amazing surprise is right around the corner.

"When we got up on the float, the first thing my son said to me was, 'is it March already? Is that why you're here?'" he said.

"Now I gotta explain to him, when I go back, that I have to go away again for a while -- that I'm not going to see him again for a couple of months," he continued. "So in that aspect, it's even more difficult. You're forced to go through that moment of separation again."

Pazz served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. At the end of this week, he will return to Afghanistan until his discharge date in March.

The "Canines with Courage" display, which raises awareness about the effort to erect the first-ever memorial for military working dogs, was sponsored by pet food company Natural Balance.

The Pentagon sponsored another military-themed float, which replicated the Korean War Veterans memorial in Washington. The Pentagon's Rose Parade debut comes a few months before the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended the fighting in Korea.

In an attempt to make a memorable entrance, a sailor -- who's been away from home for more than eight months -- decided to sneak into a family picture at his grandma's 76th birthday celebration, The Huffington Post reports. Wrapping her arms around him, the sailor's grandmother yelled in excitement at the sight of her grandson.

Last October, Staff Sergeant Chris Reed -- armed with a trays full of fast food -- surprised his wife, Amy, at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Eustis, Fla. "It started off with her just screaming and her shedding tears. Then everyone started shedding tears. There wasn't a dry eye in the place," Chick-fil-A's Kevin O'Leary told WESH.com.

After being deployed in Kuwait and Iraq for a year, Specialist Matthew Peters from Owensville, Mo., popped into the cafeteria of Washington West Elementary School to give his son, Blake, a long overdue hug. Peters had told Blake, who dissolved into tears at the sight of his father, that he'd be home 10 days later than when he actually showed up.

On an episode of TLC's "Surprise Homecoming", Sgt. Lawrence Lee sings his way back into the hearts of his two children.

In March, The Huffington Post reported that father-of-three MSG Joseph Devine (U.S. Army) returned from Afghanistan after spending a year in Afghanistan. Devine decided to surprise his 18-year-old daughter on stage at her high school after she delivered a speech as captain of her speech team. "She is daddy's only little girl, always will be, and boy did it show," said Devine's wife, Kathryn.

Last December, Capt. Dawn McCracken-Bruce reunited with her young sons just in time for Christmas, ABC News reports. The soldier mom surprised her two children at the mall.

A soldier home from Kuwait paid an unexpected visit to his father-in-law. The soldier's wife, Cari S., captured the tender moment on camera "My big, tough Daddy turns into a big ole' softy when it comes to his kids, and he is so proud of his son-in-law. As you can see, he is on a business call and walks right by my husband when he comes in. I love his reaction," she wrote in the video's description on the Welcome Home Blog.

A U.S. Army couple serving in a parachute-jumping unit in Afghanistan returned home to the delight and tears of their two young children, Fox 11 News reports. When asked what she wants to do with her parents, Travis and Isela Ulman, during their two weeks at home, 11-year-old Tashia said that she has big plans. "Hug them over and over and then I want to show them my room and I want to bring them to school," she said.

In this viral video, watch as a soldier is reunited with his beloved pooch, Emmit. The huge Great Dane, aptly nicknamed "Thunderpaws", is seen giving Trevor Chowder, who had just returned from a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan, a long and loving hug, Yahoo! News reports.

There are many videos of servicemen and women surprising their families, but it's a special treat when we see the tables turned. Here is a heartwarming new video from the Welcome Home Blog which shows a Marine getting a big surprise from his little sister. This video is of when he found out," wrote the Marine's mom, Barbara W., in the video description.

A 6-year-old boy with cerebral palsy gave his soldier dad a very special homecoming when he walked into his father's open arms, RightThisMinute.com reports. Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Cooney, 31, had been told that his son would never be able to walk. However, during the seven months that Cooney was away, his son learned to walk on his own. Cooney's wife Melissa kept her son's progress a secret for the duration of her husband's deployment so that when he finally returned home, he would be welcomed with the gift of a lifetime.
